06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

its the 305 tbi not the v6. he says his cobalt has taken on many 250 hp cars plus and won, dont believe him though, he talks alot ****, and says his lil engine can blow mine out of the water.

the race will probably go down this weekend, anyone know who has a better chance?
also, and i suck for asking this, but does it make any difference at all if im in automatic overdrive or just reg D?

Re: 06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

A lot of Cobalt owners are morons.

I have owned a raced a TBI Camaro (automatic) and 2 Cobalt 2.4L--one auto one 5 speed.

Even the auto beat the TBI but only by 0.1--but these are not 2.2L

My guess is that if he is 5 speed and your auto---he might, if he can drive, win.

Re: 06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

well if it was a SS then i would say you are screwed b/c i have raced a SS cobalt and lost by a fender (91 RS TBI) but the LT is not as strong. you will be suprised how that little motor will pull but you should win, just don't spin the tires.

The SS is a mid 14 second car, my full bolt on LO3 was not even that fast.

Re: 06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

Yeah I saw that I was referring to Ryan, yeah I ran a base 2.2 cobalt in my stepdads base Monte Carlo 3.4 that ran 16.8 and beat the Cobalt from a roll, but not by way too much. You should have it.

Re: 06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

High 15's if it is running in its prime, the 5 speeds were a little quicker which is what I had. I think there was a guy on here a long time ago that ran like 15.3-15.4 bone stock in a mint T-5 one.

Re: 06 cobalt LT vs 1992 camaro rs

LO3 wins this one. Besides the 2.4 cars and SC 2.0's, the only 2.2 Ecotec combo you need to worry about is the old "economy package" '03 to '05 cavaliers. The T5, 2.2 and a 2400 lb curb weight made them pretty darn quick. I would race my old '05 said cavy against any stock LO3 at the time and be fairly confident that I would be victorious. Cobalts are heavier and the auto is less than ideal for racing.

when i was at the track my full bolt on LO3 ran 15.9 and a cobalt the same day was hitting i think it was 16.1's and that was not the ss model.

even with the crappiest 60ft ever (2.35) i got my stock, stripper 05' Sunfire to run 15.8 at almost 89mph. with that kind of trap speed, i could have easily hit low 15s with a better launch. an auto 2.2L Cobalt should be easy prey tho
