Re: Street Race

Beating a V6 truck isn't anything to be happy about.

#1 V6
#2 Trucks aren't the best for traction.....No weight over the rear tires.

Besides.....Take it to the track. Street racing is illegal.

Re: Street Race

That's awesome!

My first race was in my '85 against a '90 Geo Metro vert. It was close, but I ended up beating him by a length.

Congrats!

This guy must be dreaming of being a cop. Everything fun is Illegal. *** it! Just don't hurt anyone or yourself. I beat this rich kid in a new truck that his mom, & dad bought him. I go to school with him. he took it real bad. Dude turned out to be a real tool. I had to get in his face, to tell him so. then I started gloating about how a poor kid wiped him in a crappy stock 305. Dirty looks for days. Racing is fun, just keep it that way. Oh ya. & it was an illegal street race. What do I care. I break the law every day I get behind the wheel. I pay my taxes!!!

you "wiped" him? so your wiping this guys ***, i donno why your bragging about that on the internet. stephen's right, its dangerous, illegal, and racing should be at the track. we all have/did/do street race, yes its dumb, yes its dangerous, yes it FUN. i agree in the correct setting street racing does not endanger anyone but the drivers/passenger, in the CORRECT setting. but sounds like your i donno, a year or two younger than me if your "school" is highschool, so i guess i can understand you talking like that, but seems like your as big a tool as he is. but hey, your bad *** in my book, being such a law breaking reble street racer who pays his taxes! pshh hahahahahah jeezus....

Re: Street Race

Most of the street races I read about here are with 15-16 second cars (like this one) not sure racing these cars in any more dangerous than merging with a 13 second car? I've raced with my 4cyl Mustang, and swear to you I could have done so in front of a cop running radar and wouldn't have been pulled over...

Re: Street Race

hummm....I drove a 2001 Dodge Ram with a v-8 the other day and it was one of the slowest things I've driven in a while. (Reminded me of driving a ryder rental truck). I am only assuming that the v-6 (yes I know it is a smaller truck but weight to power ratio is probably the same) produced similar results. And whatever happen to sportmanship in racing. I'm glad you gave the other kid the shock value of being beat, but no need to rub it in his face.

So misunderstood lol. Lets not turn this in to a day time soap guys. Take what I wrote anyway you want it. We do not all talk the same around the globe. The kid is just happy to be in the game. Not cool in my eyes to thrash him for it. At least he is doing it in a Camaro. My first car was a nissan truck. We all Must have got in our first cars no matter what it was, & tried to race any other car on the road. Only difference is that now we have the net to express ourselves. Dont use it to bring people down, for doing the same things you did. Thats one of the things i dont fall for. We are the ones that have to pay for what the older kids did. Dont rub it in.
Give um hell dude!!!

I think I did that with my Merkur one day. Granted I just bought it and didn't know that guy was an idiot and unplugged my FPR or did half the stupid stuff to it that was done. Same engine give or take a turbo.

Though I don't really race on the streets, I have been known to play around a bit. From what I see races are over in a matter of 20 MPH anyway and if it's your first kill you aren't going to be going 110 down the road.

Wow, you got in someone's face after beating him in a Special Olympics race, go you!

I'm so glad that you think it's ok to break the law because you pay your taxes. Christ, no wonder why thirdgenner's have the rep they have....thank you for upholding the stereotype.

I'm still trying to figure out what you're trying to say. "No way anything good can come from it so why show your as s like its some illegal street race. "-----I'm still trying to figure out exactly what that means lol

As far as being a big help to others...um...yeah......ooook. This thread wasn't asking for help. You actually started with the ******* comments in the thread, you started the tough guy stuff here. All one comment said was take it to the track and you come in here with your chest all puffed out trying to act like Mr Big Shot like the OP needed your assistance. If you were somehow insulted by someone saying street racing is illegal(a comment that WASN'T directed towards you BTW) then you really need to go see a shrink or something. It seems you have some anger and ****/***** issues, a professional should be able to help you with that.

Re: Street Race

I don't know what going on other then my post was misconstrued. I believe, though its almost obnoxious at times, that the reminders of a track are needed. I have given in to a stoplight battle before as we all do, but I can honestly say that I've had the most fun at the track. There are always great people there with many years of experience willing to talk to you about this and that. Show you the fun things under the hood. I have never once left the track without a new acquantance I see every now and then and stop to talk to. It's a friendly environment and we all need to go every now and then.

But that's just my opinion.

same here. I was street racing every weekend for awhile in my 68 dodge charger, then i saw some ppl almost get creamed, i mean we had a couple hundred cars out there racing plus spectators. I was like eh, I dont want to see my classic getting impounded or hit or totalled, so now only track for me. You can really practice reaction times, get 1/4 mile times, and no without a doubt who won

the guys just excited about winning his first race. look street racing is illegal, but ppl do it ALL the time. theres not many tracks here in Peoria, IL. i dont know if we have any to be honest... we have to travel a pretty good distance to race. so i think if your on a road thats not populated, and your not going to be going 160 mph, youll be alright if you just be carefull. you race at your own risk.

somebody open a track in Peoria?!?! please. or if there IS a track then soembody tell me where it is!

but seriously guys, relax.. this isnt a place to be bashing people because they think different than you do. keep that crap in high school

I drive a minimum of 2 hours to get to any track, and 3 hours to get to a good track... I know your pain.

I agree, street racing is dumb, illegal, dangerous, etc... but this is the street racing section, where this type of stuff is supposed to be brought up, correct?

Plus the guys who raced in the initial post probably werent going much over 75 mph at the end of it?

Yet ironically you're the one that starting the attacks on the guy that stated street racing illegal. Brilliant. If my post wasn't worth my time why'd you even respond? Tool.

Wait, wait , wait. I did not start the post first off. I was defending the poor kid. Does anyone not remember what it was like as a kid to think you knew it all. You had a dream you where excited about. Then just like that you get some guy pissing on your dream. The whole point was that I was reading every post that night, and the guy kept talking about things they did being illegal. So what! Also the comment was made in reference to one guy. Not every mad person on the site waiting to start drama.

I have to read it you did your job. Sucked me in for more crap talk. First off I tried to put a stop to this, & you keep on. Its like you just hang around the computer waiting for me to respond to the crap your talking. Tool? Funny thing is that No matter what you or I say we are both sitting here thinking the other is dumb. I dont know but the fact that I want it stopped, & you just keep on makes it seem like One of us is the bigger "tool".

Hey what is that color called you have on your car? I have bright red, & the clear is trashed. Looking to paint it a darker red like yours. Looks good.

Re: Street Race

In high school we had some cool cars eg. 78 monte/ 83 grand prix... chevy 1500.... list goes on. Funny thing is that we thought these cars were real fast lol. There had to be races to establish the alfa male BS. Did it on a open hwy. (most of the time). Thing is we got in **** for doing this thing sometimes. Why? Good question! Because some people find this activity offensive. Im not saying that i agree or disagree with anything stated above. I figure if you broadcast street racing in this way, you might impress a few people but you might offend a few.

My point is people should be prepaired to deal with criticism after posting about a race on a public road.

Its going to be hard to defend the forbidden act of street racing infront of some Adults that practice responsibility.

Dont get me wrong, because this is one section of tgo i enjoy alot. I just think we should give a little more respect to our senior members on the board.

(If you dont agree with an individual, its alright to call him names. Your safe behind your computer screen). lol

Ya bro i get what your saying, & in this case I tried to show respect, but their was none on the other side from the start to the end. Some people just have the diamond chip on their shoulder. As you know It seemed like I was trying to make it right, & every reply was just insulting. Senior member or not. Any man that stands for something can admit when he is wrong. Honest its sad that a misunderstanding could go that far as to bring out the kid in a grown man, that as you put it should be respected? Also the guy was not even part of the conversation. He made the effort to get ugly. The guy I wrote about never even replied.

Re: Street Race

my brother had a v6 dakota, it was the late 90's style, with the v6, it was stickshift, it was pretty peppy actually.. but if i remember, im pretty sure he had full exhaust.. 4.11 gears and an intake, dunno how much thatd help :\

and someone stated above that a dodge truck with a v8 is slow, it all depends on what v8 you get in it? and how old the truck is. because I've owned 3 dodge trucks, an 87 dodge ram with a 318 in it, which was a dog. a 98 dodge ram with a 318 in it, which wasnt too bad, cant say it was the fastest vehicle. and my current truck 2003 dodge ram, it has the hemi in it, and that thing hauls a$$, i beat a new chipped out f250 super diesel with exhaust in it..

I dont think saying racing a truck is pathetic, some trucks can be quick.

Ya my first driver was a 86 Nissan 720 truck, with a z24 four cylinder with 8 spark plugs. It had a 5 speed. Thing ran real good. I won lots of races with it. Then I traded it to a dealer. One of my friends knew how fast it was. He went to the dealer and bought it. I never knew he did it tell about a year later. He told me about buying it, and how on the way home from the dealer the rear end went out. Lol I ran the **** out of that poor truck. Then after he got it home, someone stole it. That truck ran so good that I had 3 people I knew that bought Nissan trucks. My dad even bought one. I out ran a cop in his. Fun times.

I probably wouldn't share about outrunning the police... even if you think it's relevant to the truck convo happening.

I had a 86 Stang. Loved it till After putting 8 grand in it. It got stolen. Had to pay the tow lot another grand to get it back. Rip off. They stole the cobra r's with new cooper cobra tires on them. I got so sick of looking at it all junked up with a 9 grand price tag, that I gave it to my dad for his bday. He has it all fixed up now. Changed the from & rear to look like the 87-93. Put a cam, & heads on it. It had off road H pipe with flowmasters.
I had also put a pro 5.0 shifter, new clutch, fly wheel, and a used motor right after it got stolen. It was just never the same after I got it back. Heart broken I gave it to good hands. Later that year dad gave me his Ninja zx-10, in return for my bday. Fast bike. He works at an airport so we would get 101 LL fuel for it for free. I traded that bike before I killed myself for the camaro I have now.

Sometimes I wish I would have never traded. The 305 tbi is way slow. It came with a rebuild so I feel like i have to keep that motor. The 700r4 was rebuilt also with a shift kit. I hate auto in a sports car. Your right about your stang being a 3rd gen killer. I read about the history of the mustang,& its sad that the 89 camaro I have would have to compare to a 83 stang as far as power output. Fuel millage is not even that good in my camaro. I have a 1974 full size dodge van that gets better mpg.

So hey dude. What kind of project or hot rod do you drive now? I see you have had a few good one's, but none listed. Just wondering. I am helping my father in law with a old ford grand torino. We just pushed it in the garage 3 days ago. Its about down to the frame now. Power washed everything. The last owner put a huge motor in it, so they had to cut the shock towers to get it to fit. They twisted the whole front end in doing so. We got it straight now. So we are down to cutting out the cancer, & adding new medal where needed. He has a built 429 and 4 speed ready for it.

Ya your right. Should have added that it was 11 years ago. I pull over now lol. Cops are a lot nicer when you pull over. Kids don't try that at home.

Nothing now unfortunately, got laid off....had to sell the 'vette. Debating on going with another thirdgen and build that up or get an already modded LT1 or LS1 car. At this point I'm shooting for late summer to get SOMETHING....driving a '94 Chevy Corsica every day is getting very, VERY old

What color is the Gran Torino?

Its white now. We found some red under that. We are about to DA the whole body though. I hear you about the corsica. I was driving a 87 accord, till my wife's junker went down. We have four other cars I can drive, but the winter has not been good to me. In the last month all four broke. I now have two running. Talk about a pain lol. I guess that's what I get for buying junk cars. The Camaro's trouble was just from letting it sit for two years.

I had my car for over two years with no trouble. I had to pull it out of the garage cause I had to drive it. Its started leaking coolant. Fixed that. Now it starts hard cause the fuel filter is dirty.Your not alone. Cant work on it now though. Got a tattoo 2 days ago. Covers about 1/4th of my right arm. Still hurts like hell. Took 3.5 hours so far. Its still not done. I bet im looking at another two times at under four hours each.
