89 RS VS 91 Z28

I'm going to be racing my friends 89 RS within the next few days and wanted to see what you guys think. Should be a close race. Mods in sig for my car. My friends;

89 RS with 350 about 10.5 to 1 compression
World S/R Heads 1.94in, 1.50ex valves
Road Demon Jr 625 cfm carb
Edelbrock performer intake manifold
Cam-210In-220Ex duration @ .050, .480 lift
1.5 Aluminum roller rockers
Edelbrock headers through single 3" exhaust
700R4 trans with shift kit and 3500 stall converter
Stock rear with 2.73's and open diff.

I will not be on the bottle and we will probably go from about a 20-30 mph roll. I'm still running the stock L98 cast iron heads, stock 22lb injectors, and the stock tune, but the car runs really well. So what do you think?

Stock vs stock a 91 z would beat a 89 RS, and your certainly not stock!

What does the RS have?

Re: 89 RS VS 91 Z28

The first mods listed are his, mine are in my sig. Both cars have quite a few mods so being a RS or Z28 dosen't really mater. That's just the title I picked, sorry.

Well the race happened. So who do you think won? We went from both a dig and a roll.

Re: 89 RS VS 91 Z28

Yeah, from a dig it was not even a race. I would get like 2 cars on him just from the launch and keep pulling away the whole race. From a roll it was a little closer. Would only pull about 2-3 cars on him from about 30 to 100 mph. He needs some better gears and a limited slip diff. Then it would be close. Still think I would win though. Going to run my car at the track in a week, so will see how it does. I think I'll hit 12's on the spray.
