LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
What would it take to get an ls1 to beat a terminator cobra? Like what is the best mod to do that takes the least money/work that would put it over the top?

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
The 03-04 SVT cobras that I have seen run 12.5-12.8's. So lets take a M6 98-02 SS or WS6 and add a cat back, long tubes, air lid and some k&n's. That should level the playing feild.

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
got an 02 trans am running at my local track. goes 12.70 with radials and a filter. terminators are beasts with a pulley, tune, and exhaust.. but then again ls1's can be wicked with just full exhaust, intake and cam swap.

89irocZ350TPI the ss/ws6 was the cars I was meaning to start with nice guess...gotta love that 20HP ram air
ok cool intake and exhaust I can do
was just curious cause I really wanted the performance the terinator has but they are expensive and I don't have time for any huge mods that require lots of time and effort.
how much ground clearance do you have left with long tubes on an ls1?
how much do ls1's benefit from a tune?

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
20-25 rwhp depending on how much you run the tune on the ragged edge...I gained 25 on my LS2 still being conservative.

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
if completely stock ls1, a lid, c/o, and tune are basic beginner mods, the msd wires will also improve a the throttle response some, a dyno tune would be the best method, but the crane cams tuner works pretty well for tuning mild 220 durtion cams. and stock bolt on cars

I agree, some traction, exhaust and a lid and you have a good chance with a stock 03/04. A cam and finish off the bolt ons and the eaton Cobras are within site.

Re: LS1 vs. Terminator Cobra
This LS1 is in a 3rd gen right
. My old '03 Cobra dyno'd 391hp at the wheels through a dirty airflilter and stock exhaust (50k miles). I no longer have the car but my good friend has an '03 with a cat-back, intake, and modpipe and makes 430rwhp and run's 12.5's with less than ideal drag racing talent. It is going to take a good driver in a T56 4th gen with some serious bolt ons to hang. From a roll I murdered every stock LS1 I even ran.
Another friend had an 02 SS that put down 325rwhp. Very very strong car, but not Cobra strong. The LS1 cars I find were easier to drive and shift. Driver advantage can go a long way even if you are down 50+hp.
Check out www.ls1tech.com for more info. The best LSX site on the net. This isn't really 3rd gen related, unless it is in your car
