my buddy is saying his family's gto will outrun my camaro on the 1/4 mile, now the GTO has a 400 4spd all stock except for hedman headers, its posi rear i dont know what rear ratio it has cuz its out of a 69 tempest, my camaro when done in 1 month will have a 260 hp 350, 700r4, 3.23 rear with posi, 225/60/15 rear, 750 q jet, hedman full length headers, my motor is an lo5 with lg4 heads, no emisions, no power steering, no ac, no heat nothing, just motor. my reason for thinking i can take him is the wieght what do you think? oh car is somewhat lightened, took some interior panels out along with back seat

 

Should be a close race. The goat was a high 14-low 15 second car and with headers, should be solidly in the 14's. If it has drag radials, low 14-high 13's could be possible.

 

I beat a GTO like that in my GTP Grand Prix a few years back. It will be close.

Unless he's got that thing modded up more than what you know about you should be able to beat him, barely. The GTO while bigger can haul itself down the road pretty fast. GTO's are nothing to play with.

 

My dad has a 71 GTO with a 455 H.O., automatic, hooker headers and everything else is stock. Ths SOB is FAST! He has a 68 and a 69 both with the 400 and they move pretty good too. I wouldn't want to race either one. lol

 

that 71 goat is a faster car but if you are a better driver it could be close,id bet my money on the yak though
