Forza 3 "Kill"
I guess you could call this a theoretical street racing kill. I was competing in the Class A World Championships in my '90 IROC in Forza 3. If anyone has done this you know how tough it is to compete in Class A. The Z06 just destroys everything in that class. MY IROC has full suspension, and an LS3 + Roots Supercharger for some extra kick.
I don't recall how many laps the race was, but off the line the Z06 jumped out on me, and I started the chase. I tried to cut my line as best as I could, but the C6 Z06's larger tires, and better suspension gave him a big advantage in the corners.
No matter what I did, I just couldn't seem to get enough of an advantage to pass him till 2 laps left. I knew I had to really push it, so I tried to cut as much off my corners as I could, and even left it one gear up starting into the straight away. I got the gap closed and going into the final lap I saw my opportunity and dove inside on him.. Here is an image of me going to the inside.

I came into the turn so fast that I had to bleed off just the right amount of speed to still over-power the vette into the corner but not enough as to make me slide out into him, it was great! You can see how fast we were going coming into the corner the brakes are glowing.
Its just a game, but it was an incredible thrill fighting my way around this Z06, what a great game.

Re: Forza 3 "Kill"
The worst part about modding out the thirdgens to A class in Forza is their handling suffers. It almost like driving a brick in that game. Especially if you turn off the assists.

Re: Forza 3 "Kill"
only ABS and occasionally TCS but in this race just ABS. I also have both 3rd Gens as R3, but rarely run them as R3 because the only way you can be in the least compeditive is to use those aweful wings for downforce

Hey man, I accepted your request last night. I didn't get to get on as early as I planned. My choice was to hang out with the girl I like, or play xbox lol

I use no assists except for ABS, and my opponents are Medium.
In this configuration in R3 it is really difficult to stay ahead of the pack. I usually do get ahead but they stay on my tail all the way to the finish line. In previous classes I stretch out on the pack once I'm in the lead
As hideous of a thing as those wings are, the down force produced by them helps to keep the car planted I'm curious though how much of a difference it actually makes in terms of how its modeled in the game.
I know that in real life, adding a splitter and a diffuser to our cars wouldn't really offer a huge benefit since the underside of our cars are the antithesis of "smooth", but that isn't always modeled in a simulation world.
At any rate, I race my IROC in every class I can use it in, and I absolutely love it.

Re: Forza 3 "Kill"
You should really learn how to brake without ABS. Once you get the hang of it, it makes a HUGE difference in lap times. Use manual clutch too.
Also, it's one thing to be competitive racing the computer, but you'll soon find that if you go online, the iroc and GTA have a hard time keeping up in 'A' and 'R3' classes.

Then again, pretty much any American Muscle car not named Corvette does too. I've done a little better with my 4th Gen T/A, but not as well as I do in my C6.

I've done a bit of online, and you are absolutely right, the Third Gens have a really hard time keeping up with the competition in anything A and above.

First thing I do when upgrading the suspension is set it to 700 front, and 250 rear. From there I fine tune it to suit the track and driving style. The car suddenly gets alot more drivable. I also do a differential upgrade and set the accel to about 50% and the decel to about 20%, sometimes lower.
Its MUCH easier to drive with that setup and isn't prone to instant oversteer on power.
I should be on tonight, if anyone wants to race and I'm not online, send me a PM, my phone will alert me I have a private message.

I added all of you, I am AZAustringer. I use Forzatune for my tuning usually. I have it on my android and my iTouch. I've been playing with the tuning to get it better. I also removed ABS and just finally got used to threshhold breaking, works pretty good honestly. I'll see you online!
