What to go for?

I am planing on buying a third gen in the next two weeks. And i was wondering if i should go for a 350 auto or for the 305 with stick. I know stick would be more "fun". But i am leaning towards the 350 auto because i want to run low 12's and know this would be alot easier with the 350, not to mention cheaper i hope. Just want to know what you guys think and why. Thanks

I would go with the 350 if u want speed with less BS, but some of those 305 5 Speeds are fast too. If u like stick get the 305, if u want something like an 11-12 sec. car go for the 350.

I would definitely go w/the 350. You can always put the stick in later, that is my plan. Trust me, when you are at the track facing other thirdgen's w/305's, you won't regret buying a 350. Good luck.

Seems to me it would be a Sh*tload easier to swap a 350 in place of a 305, than change a auto to a manual.

Yeah, I agree, but theres a reason that the 350 wasn't made with the same 5 Speed the 305's had, and thats that it wouldn't be able to take the TQ of the 350, thats why they are all Automatics. So its better to get a car with the 350 and put a really good transmission with it to take 11-12 sec. runs.

So the stock 350 transmission will not take 11-12 runs? how bout the rear end can that take 11-12? Cause Tranmissions are damn expensive.
