Is it a 305 or 350? The main reason people swap from a tpi to carb setup is that the tpi setup is pretty restrictive. On a 305 it isnt too bad, but when you get into a built 350 or a 383 the tpi will choke you if you dont mod it. Most 305's running stock carbs will see a performance gain by putting tpi on their motor. If you swap for a carb your power band will be much higher in the r's, so most people swap for shorter gearing (3.73 or higher). So basicly if your engine is stock, you probably wont see a gain BUT it will be much less pain in the @ss to swap motors to a 350 or 383.

You may want to ask this question on the carb board because I'm sure many people have done the swap there and can give you better feedback.

peace
