Not sure if this is the right forum, but it has its conclutions drawn from racing.

I have an '85 TransAm, LG4 and its a stick.

I remember reading the LG4s have only like 155hp, but this bird seems to have a lot more get up and go then that, im gonna take it out to the track to get an accurate timing.

Ive spanked all modded "rice" i have raced(3 or 4, mostly civics and acuras) by at least 2-3 car lengths. All stock rice ive raced at least 4-5 cars.(3rd and 4th gen preludes and such)

I also raced a '91 Camaro 305TPI i believe, no sure what motor, but im good friends with the previous owner and the current owner, and i got a hp rating between 170-190 for it. I got that by 3 car, then 2 next race.

The previous owner of the Camaro just got done building up an 81 Mali(350, +.030 over, blah blah blah, the norm that comes with that, its very nice), ET in the 12s-13s we raced and he only got me by 2 cars or a little more.

Now that i have bored you with this, i was just wondering about the hp of my TA, and the mods, i bought it how it is now, and it doesnt have any bolt on mods(that i can tell), and somethin that crossed my mind was maybe the previous owner modded it with a chip? Any Ideas? Comments?

P.S. It is hard to get a hold of the previous owner, but im still going to try that as well.

That's not even possible unless that guy spun thru all gears. If the previous owner put in a chip, that will hardly do anything to your 1/4 time. And with no visible bolt on, that car came with either I believe 2:73 or 3:xx gears, which could have been changed and if they were changed the best I would give your car is high 15's in the 1/4.

dude look under the hood , there is no way in hell you would have beaten that 91 by 3 cars , id have a very hard time even believing you would have kept up with him , look under the hood man its not hard to tell whats modded or not also are you sure it wasnt a tbi ? im not even going to mention the malibu he would have handed you your *** more than that remember 1 second = approx 9-10 cars so

Yeah, I would have to agree about the 91, unless it's a vert that should be in the high 14's I think. The only way you could have beat him is if you're previous owner did some mods that can't be seen, which this wouldn't be first on my list. Such as gears and cam. But like said look under the hood to see if headers were added. What about cat-back, is it the stock exhaust from the cat-back.
