Important theoretical race

someone i know is getting his daddy to buy him 90 RS with a tbi 305 auto- which means 2.73 gears. I have an 84 berlinetta lg4- but i've got 3.08s and its probably lighter, but i've got a 20hp and 15 ft lb disadvantage according to ratings. i don't have much for mods, but what do you guys think?

I'd say it would be a close race, but you might have an advantage. Do all the "recomended carb mods" in the tech articles to be sure. How many miles do you have on your engine? How many on his? I think that may be the determining factor. Give it a shot, it'll be close. If you had a L69 it'd be a totaly different story.

ive got 190,000, but i don't burn oil, runs great except for the choke being out of adjustment. The tranny is dying on the 2-3 shift though. he'll have 95,000, but he doesn't know how to do anything. i don't think he can do anything besides change oil and air filters. he thinks that he can put in a k&n and he'll have a race car. I'm not going to give him enough advice to kick my *** because he's playing with daddy's money, not his own.

I would say you'll take him. I took out my friend's 92 RS 5 spd(convertible tho) with my wheezy, tired oil burning LG4. I had 2.73's too BTW. Either way it will be a good race. As long as your carb works(my choke fruited out one day and wouldn't let the secondaries open!!!!. made me lose to a mustang!) you should have a realistic shot. Good luck.

I think you'll take him by just a little, You may have a little less Hp, but you've got better gears and an engine that revvs a little more freely.

You should probably take him .... depending on options ....are you a full load is he same or less.

Granted my old 92 RS TBI was a 5 speed (3.08) but it was also stripped .... almost ALMOST had a 5.0 94-95 mustang GT I said almost.

But I would put you at about 1/2 car ahead or so ..... go race and let us know.
