tickets
i was just wondering what we have for traffic ticket holders on the board. I have a speeding 56 in a 40 in my firebird, and then two more in my old honda (72 in a 45, 56 in a 40). What about getting caught dragging?
ive heard that in my state if you are caught drag racing they can impound your car indefinitley...I dont know if this is true or not though.
But I do know they can give you a careless driving ticket, which is lik 6 points.

yep, used to live in Detroit. 6 points automatically, and license is gone. not too sure about the impound, but i know they can arrest you for reckless driving there, which is anything 25 or over.

i got some bullsh!t 58 in a 40 ticket last year. one of the few times that i actually was not speeding. i was driving home late one night, i pull up to a red light. while i'm waiting, a car pulls up behind me, a notice it's a cop. no big deal, i didn't do anything right? soon as it turns green, he pulls me over. said he clocked me at 58 in a 40. i asked him where he clocked me since i never even saw him, and the spot he told me he was sitting was just about a mile back. unless i'm running from him, there's no way in hell it should take him a mile with me waiting at the light for him to catch up to me. still to this day i honestly believe that he clocked another car, and that car turned off, and i just happened to be the next car on the road.

Just a quick definition here -
Clocking/Pacing: this is when the cop drives next to your car, monitoring your speed on his speedo for a minimum of a mile OR has a predetermined distance marker set up and times how long it takes your car to travel that distance, then converts it to MPH.
Radar: Cop points a gun your direction, the waves bounce off your buggy and return to the gun. Gun gives the reading.
Lidar: Laser that works with a tiny beam reflecting back to the gun.
So, if the cop clocked you - there is a good chance that he got you and not another guy cause he was watching you for a mile.

by the way one more thing, i know IL just passed this law that if your caught going at least double the posted speed limit, they will arrest you and impound your car and charge you with reckless driving..

I got pulled over for 69 in a 55 (although I was going close to 80 right before he clocked me... I had slowed down just in case there were cops in the vicinity... seems I have a sixth sense when it comes to radar guns. But he let me off since I pulled over immediately and had no record on my license... also it helped wearing my glasses I guess LOL... I don't have restrictions on my license, but I couldn't pass the eye chart. Anyhow, if a cop pulls you over and you weren't going a ridiculous speed in bad conditions etc. Just play it like you don't know why you were pulled over... could be a bad headlight or anything. Also, if he asks "do you realize how fast you were going?" tell him: " I felt that I was going an apropriate speed given the road conditions and traffic density." it only works though if this is a reasonable arguement.

One other thing referring to the post above my last. In most states they will arrest you for going over 100 MPH if they feel it apropriate... even in Montana.
I got a BS 70 in a 45. How go from 35 behind a U-Haul to 70 in less than 2 seconds? Stupid female cop jumped in the middle of the street to flag me down, and I was tempted to run her fat @$$ over!

I got a ticket going 135 in a 65mph zone about 2years ago in my 79trans am 400/4spd. My car got impounded, i was arrested and couldn't bail myself out. It was an experience i learned from, I stick to 65 on the highways. Not to mention that for each of the 3 days i was in jail i got charged $65 a day for impound.

tickets ??? hummm well let's see. reckless driving, passed red light, unsafe start, driving on wrong side of the road,no seat belt,no directional, and was gonna get resisting aresst but i guess they figured i was pretty much f**ked and this was all in a 88 nissan pathfinder. the only one that stuck was recklass driving $500.00 and got to keep my license somehow.
also almost kissed my z28 good-bye last weekend. my friend in his rx7 and me in my z 28. we were neck and neck then out of the corner of my eye i see lights. the cop was sitting on a side road watching. he pulls out so i pull right over saying my final words to my car. i was not about to try and out run him. my friend on the other hand down shifts and takes off. the cop automatically goes for him and doesn't even look at me. i did a quick sign of the cross pulled a 180 ran every light leading to the parkway and went home. on the way home i hit my friend on the two way to ask what was going on he tells me he's on the parkway doing about 150 mph on his way home. funny thing as he is talking i hear the sirens getting farther and farther away.

I got stopped for 96 in a 65. I pulled over right after I saw him and heard my radar. I was lucky to get out of it because of my CDL. By the way, the CDL helps with getting out of tickets.

I got caught racing (and beating) a Mustang Cobra around 2 months ago. We were up on an empty parkway around midnight. After I had beat him I slowed down and he passed me and than paced me. We drove that ay for about 1 mile with him about 2 cars in front both doing about 70MPH (speed limit was 45) Next thing i know we pass a set of headlights on the onramp and think nothing of it.
So I am on the brakes for upcomiong lights that I know of. The cop comes flying up on my bumper and I tink it was one of the Cobras friends who was trying to tag along also. I pull right and let him pass and realize it'sa cop. He gets up on the Cobra and the Cobra thinks it's his friend and books it. The Cobra was making ground hard on the vic when he tosses on the blues. Cobra guy pulls over and I have nowere to goso he gets me too.
I got Driving to endanger, Racing, and "speed greater than reasonable" Niether of us was arrested or towed. I still have to deal with this one yet...haven't gotten the court date yet.

Hey, I personally see nothing wrong with cops issuing tickets for drag racing, it is very unsafe.
I also once got pulled over for doing 85 in a 70...in northen BFE Michigan, but the cop knocked it down to 5 over, which is no points and only a fine if your on the expressway.
I think most cops do a service...some dont.

In my '80 Mustang 302. Pulled over 54 in a 30. Got a warning.
My '76 TA, 71 in a 55, $70 fine 1 pt.
My '85 Mustang 4 banger w/ 4in cowl hood and wing. Pulled over numerous times about 5 all warnings.
My '86 Iroc, only pulled over once, had a radar detecter too. 46mph in a 30 same place as my first Mustang. I got a warning.
One time in my Mom's old conv. LeBaron. I was doing about 90, saw a cop make a u-turn I tried to ditch him by going into a small shopping center. He got me, ask to search the car for illegal stuff. I was like sure. Ended up giving me a warning, he didn't have his ticket book on him, was on his way to work I think.

I've not had one ticket in my 2 years of driving. I'm 18 now and waiting for the damn insurance to go down since I don't have any tickets. The cops are pretty predictable on where their gonna be here.

I don't know where to start. I will leavit at only two times was I ever issued a ticket for some thing I did. the rest is just living in a small town and when one cop decides they don't like you the rest will follow. Infact I got a squeeling tire ticket in my 87 6000 wich could turn them in the rain.(I have tried) does not run right
well thats all just hate paying tickets for stuff I don't do. and wan't to say not all cops are bad just the ones in this town I never have problems any of the other cities.

I got a ticket for doing a burnout during the dream cruise this year around 14 mile or somewhere around there. Someone pulled a ranger pickup in front of me with a bed full of water and created a burn box. So I had too do a bad*** burnout, it was awesome until the cops in a new Z28 pulled up. The crowd that was cheering started booing and then started chanting a**hole. The cop did admit it was a good burnout as he gave me the ticket though. And it only cost me 90 bucks. I was in the second lane over from the crowd so I did not think it was endangering anyone. I cannot wait for next year!

Lets see I am 17 and i think my license may be getting suspended since i just received my 3rd ticket in less than a year. 1st in a 91 pontiac sunbird going 49 in a 30 2nd in my dads GN 52 in a 25 and the last in my formula going 42 in a 30. First was wiped off the record with school and 6 i said 6 months supervision 2nd i just paid 90 dollars and last i am about to mail in and try to get the court supervision and school.
Do you guys think my license will be pulled? Should i go to court or just mail it in?
Also i was never able to get out of a ticket and i always am very nice and appropriate to the officer. I know a girl who got out of a 30 over ticket and she was yelling and swearing at the cop and he let her go.

some states operate on a point system......you get a certain amount of points for a certain offense....so many points and they'll suspend your license.
lets see......just got pulled over a couple days ago for 78 in a 55 and got a verbal warning......about 3 years ago i got pulled over for 73 in a 55....and about a year ago i got pulled over for 60 in a 45.......thinks thats it.....

See i live in will county so they are a little more tight. But i see what you are saying i know people who got 5-10 tickets in their first year of driving and no suspensions of their license. Then i know people with 3 and theirs has been pulled. My friend has 6 speeding tickets in a year just got his license taken because he forgot to pay the last ticket on time.

in ma if you get 2 tickets (speeding) in one year your lience is gone for 6 months, and when you first get your licence if you drive with people in your car for the first 6 months you lose it for 30 days, laws here suck!

Just a word to the wise. Don't mail your tickets in as guilty with payment. Tickets as with anything else with the judicial system is negotiable. It is always worth a day in court to try to plea bargain your case. 90% of tickets can be talked down. The cop counts on you not going to court. You can get him back by making him go to court. If you want to help your driving record and insurance prices, fight the ticket in court.
My last experience was a 86 in a 45, a 250 fine and 2 points. I was able to bargain the offence to $125 and go to traffic school to take care of the points.

I got pulled over for racing and only got a warning cause of a clean record (the cop was right behind me when I gunned it)...I didnt go over the speed limit though..it was 50...I just got up there pretty fast next to a Formula 350...guess the coppers dont like that. I also got pulled over for a 50 in a 35 and got only a seatbelt fine...$42...oh well

Well, I did get busted for drag racing. Before I got my 91 Camaro RS (thank *** ), I was in my dad's 94 Crown Victoria (nice car, not to fast htough! lol!). Anyways, it got bumped to Sudden Acceleration. No fine, doesnt go on driving record.
How do you bargain a ticket down? I want to get supervision and school but i already took that and it has not been a year yet. I just don't want my license pulled. I have a job that supports me and school i need my license.

Got pulled over last week, 80 in a 50. It was like 11:30 on a Sat. and I was going back from my house to stay over a friends. I was drivin my winter beater an 87 Suzuki Samurai (LOL), and i had the little 1.3 screamin at around 7500 rpms (real smart). anyway, goin down the main street, and bang, blue lights, nailed by the new SUV cop cars in town. Luckily it was the cool cop who knows my dad, and i reasoned that there was absolutely no one else on the road, and he gave me a warning. Lucky it wasn't the *** cop in town that likes to pull me and my friends over whenever he sees my Trans AM or his red camaro go by, i dunno why. Could be cause of that little incident with assault and battery and a car hitting a house, and then getting arrested for having a lot of choice words with a cop, but that's a whole different story...

I got a few tickets. My first was in my dad's buick lesabre for running a redlight speeding in a parking lot and doing 43 in a 30..he just gave me a warning...next ticket was 60 in a 40 after i did a power test in my 91 z28 without knowing there was a cop behind me...warning again...the i got a $250 ticket for watching drag racing in Fall River, MA and i took it to court and won then i got a $150 in providence, RI for watching drag racing again and I got that written off in court too. SO if your go to court u dont have to pay

You guys have no idea how lucky you are. Here in IL they are starting a new law for us youngsters turning 16. 2 moving violations and we loose or lisence until we are 18. Then if we get 2 more we loose it until 21.

I'd say most states are lucky compared to NY, here 1-10 over is a 4 point offense and 11-20 over is a 6 point... given we only have 11 points to fill, you can only get pulled over once or twice if you want to keep your license.
All these stories remind me... I was heading up a hill at 70 in a 55 zone in the rain at night and I was about to go around this bend and I see a cop heading the opposite direction all of a sudden he turns on the lights and slows down for a u-turn, I go around the bend and quickly jump into the other lane with some other cars and slow down... just out of sight of the cop and he goes zipping by me about 10 seconds later... I don't know to this day if he was going after me, but it was pretty slick, because in the dark he would have no way of knowing where I went.

you actually get a ticket for 1-10 over? thats gotta suck...from my experience with cops here in texas, anything under 10 over is a warning, unless youve been stopped too many times, and they start ticketing at 11+...

Somehow, I've been pulled over 12 times and have no points. Take your tickets to court and admit wrongdoing to the cop and they often recommend lower tickets. For example, I got caught going 73 in a 50. I turned off down a sidestreet before the cop could cross the median to get me. Unfortunately, the street was a deadend and I had to go back onto the main road. 4 cops pulled me over after they saw mw pull out(one camaro, three tahoes) They wrote me for 23 over after i convinced them that i wasn't trying to run away. Took it to court and it was reduced to 10 over.
Got a 46 in a 25, took it to court and got a blockading traffic ticket, no points.

I have no idea what my points are...but I pay $355/mo. for regular -$500 full coverage on a '93 mitsubishi 3KGT SL. my license is currently revoked/suspended in three different states. I recently got caught doing 51 in a 35 at 3:00am on a country road. why not just lower the speed limit some more? since Virginia is full of so many retards, local and military. since most of these people are a danger to themselfs anyway, shouldn't the 55mph hwy limit be reduced to 44mph? since that seems to be the speed of choice around here. what about a 12mph speed limit in the HRBB and midtown and downtown tunnels as well..!? these people have troubles simply driving in a strait line, probably a side effect of this "extasy fad" and other drugs widley available in the Hampton Roads area! I think everyone should have their licensce revoked and not be allowed to walk the streets without wearing a helmet and knee pads.
Heres the list:
Drag racing Mar 2000
Speeding 70 in a 60 Oct 2001
Speeding 55 in a 35 Jul 1999
Speeding 40 in a 25 Aug 1997
Turn signal violation Sep 1997
And to top it off Fleeing to avoid arrest.
A$$hole just keyed my 90 IROC and I was chasing him down the highway and didn't see the undercover behind us. 10 miles down the road they set up a little welcome station for us.

I myself have been pulled over a few times for speeding. One was a 55 in a 40 and a 80 in a 70. I got off all of them, they just verbally abused me
. But get this, I did get a ticket for avoiding an accident with a motocycle cop. This @$$ had just finished writing a ticket for an explorer. I see them and slow down to 55 to see what was going on. But as I got closer, the pig got on his bike, and pulled out right in front of me
. He must have been 10 feet in front of me when I pulled the car to the left. Since this was a quick action I lost traction to my rear tires and spun the car completely around him. The cop had the audasity to flip his lights on and approach me. He wrote me a ticket for reckless driving
and to think I saved his life!!!I took his @$$ to court, and I won.
The last I heard of him is that he lost his badge. The moral of this story... do not avoid the cops, smash in to them!!

I've had a couple of oportuinities to smash a cop, even if it was their fault,it would be a ballzy thing to do. however,I won't think twice about once I get my license back. he lost his badge too! good, that proves that they are human and make mistakes just like everyone else,my driving record shows no serious harm to any people or thier property, but somehow I get charged more $$$ for insurance than guys I know with DUIs and reckless driving charges!!! niether of which I have!! thats why I don't care when cops die in the line of fire, sometimes they deserve what they get sometimes theyre just doing their job. they get no sympathy from me,I'm in the Navy and I expect to die. regular dognut munchin cops would rather chase minor traffic offenders (hard working people with more on thier minds than watching the speedo, when wathing the road is more important) than deal with real criminals that they may have to chase on foot or have a shoot out with. however this isn't a flame against all cops, just the the geeky ones that got picked on in HS and want to take it out on everyone now.
