Hp estimation

I've been wondering this for awhile it's a 355 flat top pistons comp cams flat tappet thumpr cam advertised lift is 297/279 the heads are just the Tbi swirl port heads but they have been worked a little 2.02 valves stiffer springs for the cam I know the machine shop worked them a little bit not sure exactly what they did has 1.52 roller rockers edelbrock performer air gap intake Holley 600 carb has headers not sure what brand or size they were already on the car if any other info is needed just ask I'll do what I can to answer the questions

Re: Hp estimation

Those heads aren't doing you ANY favors, they're slug heads. I'd say maybe 225 hp.

If you want to produce hp you need to swap out those heads for some that breath.

Re: Hp estimation

That sounds like a good plan. The swirl port heads serve a purpose (I have the 5.7 tbi with swirl ports in my 95 K2500) but for hp the vortecs will get you farther.

Re: Hp estimation

Vortecs will be a huge gain over the TBI heads

Re: Hp estimation

Take those heads off and throw them into the nearest river,,,that's how good they are..Or sell them to one of "those" guys that believe theyre Vortecs because they use centerbolt valve covers......
