All depends on TRACTION. My dad had an all original 1969 396 Chevelle SS and it was a torque monsterbut.. my old mid 13 sec GTA could outrun it simply because the heavy chevy would roast the tires. If he had slicks on it that wouldn't have happened.

Thats what I thought... I didn't know if any gear ratios would be a determining factor

I've had a lot of cars, including an SS396 Chevelle. They aren't fast cars. They're ocean liners with some torque. Honestly, our memory of those cars is far better than the reality of them. It really came to light recently here locally as a freshly built 396 Chevelle with aftermarket cam, modern carb and headers etc lost to a 2016 V6 Camaro with a tune and cat-back... and not really by a 'little bit' either.

stock big blocks of that era were pigs The low end tq made them feel faster than they were kind of like a tpi.

That Chevelle isn't built much different than my 71 GT-37 with it's 455HO, TH400 12 bolt. I've had a best of 13.23 in Pure Stock trim with 3:08 gears in the rear. I'll let you know how I do after this weekend with the 3:73 gears. I'm pretty confident the car is capable of mid 12's, just not sure the driver is.

Car scales at 3840 with me in it - should be 3620 car only and those times are with Firestone Wide Oval Bias Ply's.
