Ok I've been cruisin' these boards for a long time but never felt like registering until now. My friend just got a 99 Integra Type R. Its totally stock except for wheels and tires. I've got an 85 Z28 Tuned Port with custom ramair, K&Ns and a Hooker catback. My question is: Who will win a friendly street race of about 1/2 mile? Just curious of who will win. If I'm gonna lose at least I wanna know ahead of time. Thanks a lot. Dan

It would be close, but a half a mile is a long time. I would think that a 99 Type R would pull pretty good after a 1/4 of a mile. If anything, I would think you should run a 1/4 mile, not a half. Then you would have the advantage.

so for a 1/2 mile I would have to say prolly him but not by much
though it could go either way I will say that

though get a few more mods to your car and I would give the tip in to you

I saw one get spanked by a stock 97 Z at the track today if that helps.

Thanks for the answers. The 1/2 mile thing can change. I just figured that would be an OK length. I know my TPI kinda runs out of breath above 5 grand so I'll get him to race a 1/4 mile. Dan

this guy at the track got 14.9s out of his stock one. he bumped the timing a little and went 14.6. youll probably need some more mods for a guaranteed win.

I saw one Type R at the track and he had the fart tip, rims and the car was yellow with a huge GREDDY decal on the hood. Although I don't think it was turboed it went 14.9, and 15.2 before going home.

I have pretty much the same car...and it would be a close race. I would say if the driver of the honda knows how to drive, and doesnt mind beating the snot out of his/her car (launching @ 4,000rpm +) they would probably take me. The average honda driver who is new to his/her car would probably loose because of a bad launch.

Make sure you get a good launch if you want to win. Practice a few times before you race just to make sure you arent rusty. If its just your friend you are racing and nothing serious then its all for fun anyway. Good luck!
