Should I trade in the miata for an LS1?
Should I trade in the miata for an LS1?
I've got a 1999 mazda miata and while it's by far the best handling car I've ever owned, straight line performance leaves a lot to be desired. I've looked into turbo kits for the miata and while they do put out impressive numbers, I don't think I'm ready to put down $5500 for a turbo kit, clutch and install. Found a 1998 Z28 6-speed for about $12,900. I had a 91 Z28 350 and loved it till it got totalled.

Why would you even post this question on a Camaro-based website??
I'm sorry, but everytime I see a Miata, I want to throw up.
I've never been impressed by them, and when I drove a couple of them when I worked at an auto shop, I was afraid if some kid on a bicycle came flying around the corner that he would kill me
and total the car.

ummmm maybe LS1? If you think the miata handles well try out a newer 4th gen. It will handle well and scream in a straight line. Trade the go-kart in and get a real car.

I think it takes a lot of ***** to drive a car as small as the miata, and it could be fast with half the horsepower of a camaro......but the '98 LS1 will be much safer, handle better and definitly give you the acceleration you want and not break half shafts every day!! I don't have much experience with miata's,but it does lokk as if a small breeze could flip one over! maybee better left to speedvision's "adventures in motorsports" series...

the only real thing the miata has going for it is handling and light weight, you still have to do quite a bit of work to make them fast
and though I prefer small cars like the miata I would still pick the LS1 in this case though
