raced 2000 ss
raced 2000 ss
Well i ran into one leaving work last night. Sweetest sounding ss i have ever heard too. Well we line up at a light and to say the least i got spanked but a large margin. I ended up BS with the guy for like 30 minutes about my car and his and found out he has a 150 shot of nitrous feeding the the car with all forged.
I lost by a large amount but it was the funniest race i ever had. :lala:

If he went to the trouble to get forged internals, I'm willing to bet that he atleast upgraded his cam, perhaps a little bit of head work etc.
sounds like a fun race!

i lost by what seemed to be like 10 cars. He did use the nitrous dont know what he had it set at when he hit it on me tough not much i assume. He said he had a cam, headers, exhaust, all forged parts, and some other stuff.
I am suppose to meet with him this weekend to cruise if it is nice. He said he will take me for a ride and he will juice it for me! :hail: :lala:

Normally us LS1 guys dont have to do any internal engine mods at all...until more displacement is needed. Stock the d@mn things are so built you can spray the crap out of them with no worries (6 bolt mains
). The record for stock internal 6 speed car right now is 11.567@121.13...n/a
Add some spray and youre really cookin.
Do you have any specific info on what he has done to his car?

6 bolt mains don't guarantee much, what kind of pistons do the LS1's come with?
the pistons are the parts that take the most abuse when running nitrous.

my buddy has a 98 vette A4 with 3.15 gears. he added a 200 horse nitrous shot and a fuel pressure regulator, bigger mass airflow sensor and slicks. Best et: 10.93 at 134 launching on the bottle(ouch). It blew up shortly after but warranty covered a new motor (he just removed the NOS
).
I wish i could afford an LS1. The Speedvision World Challenge Corvettes run LS1s with LS6 intakes, LS6 heads (CNCed by Lingenfelter), and the ASA cam with .525 lift. Also have 11.2:1 compression. Stock crank, rods, but new pistons to raise compression. The result: nearly 500 rear wheel hp!!!

I can say that I have never heard of a piston failure. I imagine it can happen if your fuel system isnt up to the task of nitrous. But no more so than any other engine. The most common thing to go is the valvetrain (missed shift while sprayin). Ive seen stock lifters go a few times, but again caused by human error. Personaly I wouldnt put more than a 75 shot on my LS1, but thats just because of the cost of replacement. LS1's aint cheap!
Yep a 200 shot is likely to destroy a stock motor. But any way you look at it, :hail: LS1
