Is this possible?
I went back to work and have money to play with again. I want to build the fastest thirdgen on the board. My plan is get a 350 block open it up to a 355 then put in a 400 crank. What would this combo be like. A T56 will go in 2.

that will be a sweet combo man, it will make lots of torque. strokers are cool. that will kick ***. i didnt do the math cause i am busy studying calculus and algebra and the last thing i need right now is more formulas, but i think that will work out to 383 cubic inches....some where in that neighbourhood. i would love to have a 383 someday, but right now the funds dont allow it. good luck with the project.

A 30 over 350 with a 400 crank? Errr, that would be a 383 guys. They are pretty common now a days. You will need a good set of heads to allow that shortblock to breath. Do you want to build the fastest thirdgen on the Ontario board or the whole thirdgen.org board?

just the ontario board i thougth if you bored the 350 .030" over then put in the 400 crank the displacement would be slightly larger than a 383. A 427 small block is also a possibility it all depends on how much i want to spend. This will be a very slow project that i will take my time with and will probably not be finished till after next winter (dint want to spend 2 much $ at once)

Trust me, a 30 over 350 with a 400 crank is 383. A virgin 350 with a 3.75" stroke crank is a 377 and a 60 over 350 with the 3.75" crank is a 388. A 427ci small block would be very costly. You would need an aftermarket block, rods, pistons, crank, custom oil pan, blah blah. About the biggest you can go with an OE 350 block is 396ci and that requires a ton of material to be removed from the block skirt. It won't be very difficult to run a 12.9 with a 383 and a good set of heads.
Its definately a 383.. cause usually what people do is grab a used 350, bore it out .030" to clean it up, then stroke it withthe 400 crank. Its my beliefe that cam. heads and intake are your main points of interest to make power.

Actually guys, I'm pretty sure a 383 is a .60 over 350 with a 400 crank????
The thing is if you want to make a stroker engine, you need to do the research and design your own plan. You can by pre-designed kits that come with everything, but they're running like an 8.5-9.0:1 comp. ratio. This is so they can still be hit with power adders safely. If I was to do it, I would make a high comp. stroker like 11 or 12:1 then it would really have snap.
