3rd Brakelight Halogen bulbs.....

Can be oughtrageously expensive. So following some advice from our American cousins on this board I went to Radio Shack and picked up a couple of bulbs there. They look a little different but fit right in and light up real nice. The last ones I replaced cost me $9.99 each at Crappy Tire. These ones from Radio Shack were $4.59 each. The part # is 272-1177. I have a Convertible and I'm not sure how different my "Cyclopse" is from the hatch backs but I think the bulbs should work. This is just an FYI for those of you who are in need of these little jewels and don't want to get hosed. If anyone knows where to get them cheaper than Radio Shack let me know.

Steve

do they run hot ?

Hey Steve,

Sounds like a good idea. One concern -- I was wondering if the halogen bulb ran hotter and might start melting stuff ? Any thoughts ?

RP.

I'm not terribly concerned, because they are brake lights they are not continuously on so heat build up shouldn't be that bad.

Thanks for the tip...I replaced mine a couple years ago (needed 4 of them) and CT didn't carry them at that point. I had to go to GM and pay almost $13 a piece! I asked the guy why so expensive and he said at the time only 3 GM car models were ever made with them...Camaro, Cutlass and Gran Prix I think.

Any time I go to the wreckers I always look for spares! I picked up a couple that way.
