Tranny Problem, suggestions?
Since I purchased the car about 4 years about, I sort of new this thing was going to let loose one day and I am thinking it is close to going (700R4) sometime in the near future. The car this summer seems to be getting worse and worse, I say worse in terms of slipping a bit, not kicking down when punched etc.
Any suggestions as to what I should do? Idealy I want to swap in a manual down the road when I do an engine swap, but I dont want to get into that this year. Anyone know of anything out there that might help with things, some sort of oil or anything. Also how hard do you guys thing it would be to come accross a half diecent 700r4 that I could swap in just to sort of tie me over for this summer and maybe next till the drivetrain swap (not neccessarily a re-built one, just one I can rely upon for the next little bit)
thanks

Sounds like your only option is a used tranny. You should be able to find a 700 w/out too much trouble and just hope that it lasts.
There was a 700R4 with converter out of a supposedly low milage GTA posted on the Ontario classifieds a few weeks ago. It's probably gone but just for reference I think he wanted about $400 for it. You could probably do better than that if you looked around.
Edit: I don't think crappy tyre will have anything in a can that will help. Although I have heard that if you take an unopened litre of ATF and bury it on the night of full moon and then dig it up on Friday the 13.th -- never mind.
