What do you look for when buying a used flyweel?
Can you check it visually for stress cracks or should it be magnafluxed.
Also, about how much $ to get it resurfaced.
What's a good shifter for a t5 - if good and t5 can be used in the same sentence.
Thanx

Axle/Gears: Yup -- they still work
I'd buy one used with the caveat that it survives some basic health tests or money back.
The machine shop will expose most issues during a re-grind. If possible ($$$) I'd have the new clutch assembly balanced together with the wheel about $75 last time I did it but that was some years ago.
I've heard alot of good things about short throw shifters on T5s in GMHP magazine (Oct/Nov ?) they are building a 3rd gen not sure whose product they used but they definitely raved about the quality of the unit and the improved shifting.

I paid $50 for a resurface last year.
Flywheel, maybe $50 for used.
As for the shifter, it was a Pro 5.0. I have one (T-56 version) and love it. Doesn't even compare to the stocker, this thing is awesome.
Powershifts are now made possible, stocker, no way.

The two things I would look for when buying a used flywheel would be deep qouges that would prevent it from being resurfaced (Check for minimum thickness stamped on flywheel) and the ring gear. Make sure the ring gear is in good shape with no teeth missing, or big chamfer ground on one side of it from starter not engaging properly.
