Welcome to the boards!

If your speaking of a vehicle that has be branded written off, you crap out of luck. Once the car/truck is branded, it is not reversable.

If its branded as irrepairable then you are screwed but if it only has a salvage title you can rebuild them. It needs to have some sort of a frame certification though to verify that the car is structurally safe. Maybe call some collision shops and talk to them. I had a caliver that was a rebuild.

Yup. The car has to be returned chassis-wise to the same specs as when it was new- how close to the factory specs a chassis has to be I cannot say- but let's face it, I bet you could pull any car off the road and find it's not precisely on the official factory specs but is straight and tracks straight (i.e. it left the factory not exactly 'on spec'. I'm not sure if the MOT has some sort of "certified" body shops for this or if any body shop with a full alignment setup can do it. However, it's not cheap for a consumer to get it done. 10 years ago before "branding" ever appeared, it cost in the ballpark of $250.00 just to have a car checked on a rack for straightness/alignment (i.e. no work done) and there was no "special" paperwork involved for handing to the government (i.e. increased effort for bodyshop, and increased $$$ for you or I).
