my camaro...

i'd say i could get $14,000 if i sold it right now with all i've done to it.

what do u think

 

ducatis make nice toys. horrible street bikes.

the clutch pull is heavy... VERY tiring in traffic.
the clutch chatters under light and mild speed releases.. basicly around town.

the service intervals are envolved and frequent.
parts prices are insane (even compared to other sportbikes)



all in all, they make very very nice weekend flick-around-on-back-roads toys. even better race bikes... thats what they're made for.

they dont have anywhere near the civil refinement other sportbikes have... they do look sexy though.



so no, i wouldnt buy one.. i ride waay to much.. i like riding girls around town.. i like crusing around with my buddys... we also haul *** places, but its not the only thing i do with my bike.
they are not very easy (or cheap) to live with.

 

I had to reply to this one!! I love Ducati's. If you have the money to maintain it ($$$$$$$$$$$) then I say go for it. I will also agree that they make for a good rip on the weekends, not an everyday bike. Although the 2002's are apparently very, very reliable, ducati still can't seem to shake their "I'm a racebike, not a streetbike" routine. But like I said, If you have the money to keep it running good and have its servicing done when It should, I'd say do it. Good luck!!

 

that should only take you a week to kill your self on. make sure you get a set of trailing wheels for it too

 

What have you done to it except polish a few things and fry up the electrical system.

Anyway you're too tall to ride a sport bike propery..lol - centre of gravity too high, you'd be an accident waiting to happen.

And forget about the $14,000 for the car..lol.

But yeah, get the bike if that's what you want - they're a lot of fun - until you fall off.

The book value or what you think its worth means squat.Finding somone to pay 14,000 for a third gen would be a tough task.I have seen 1992 z28s with 350 go for 8k and still not sell.

 

Dude I told you before...crotch rocket or babe magnet? lol...It's a darn right to own a Camaro, respect that and keep your car.

 

seeing as how i have been offered 14 within the last couple of months cold hard cash from 2 different individuals who will not leave me alone says something i would think.

seeing as how i spent almost $8000 on my car just this summer says something else.

 

what it comes down to is someone willing to pay for everything i've done to the car....

and apparently alot of people love what i've done... :P

I personally would keep the F-body. YOU need to consider if you want the trade, will this be your primary mode of transportation, etc.

Basically, do whatever makes you the most happy.

 

trade it for a ducati? what all have you done to it to make the camaro worth that much? if you can get that much for that car by all means sell it...sell it now.

 

If guess it comes down to how much of a Ducati nut you are. I'm a big Ducati nut, and if I could get that much on a trade with my car, as much as I love it, I think I'd be forced to part out with the car. You can always get another Camaro, Owning a Ducati is something special. I say go for it!

 

i had a 748 2000 and it was junk... but it could have just been the shop that put it together...

i was highly disappointed.

 

I just sold a Ducati 900 superlight a month ago to build a new engine for my bird. I think I have outgrown bikes in general, after 11 years of riding. Besides, where's the back seat to have sex in?

All I have to say is if you can find someone to give you 14K for your car.....sell it....drive to their place right now and collect the cash....and figure out what you want to do (buy the bike...or something else)

Your car is nice...but finding people to spend 14k on a 3rd gen....those people are far & few between.

Easy I have you checked into what the Insurance cost is for that Italian Crotchrocket? Hey, If you could get 14g's for that car I'd do it quick, before they change their minds

 

hah i know many of you would take 14 in a heartbeat, but not me.

i paid 10 for the car 2 years ago... and since then kept it in really good condition and put alot of money into it...

it took me 2 years to find my car.... and the bottomline is if i sold it it would take forever to find a car in the same condition.

but i'm getting bored of z28s...

I've had 2 Ducati's. A 98 748 and a 99 750SS. They are nice bikes, but they are commited bikes. Unless you are commited to them, you are better off buying something else. Have you ever ridden a bike before? Ducati Superbikes do not make for very good beginner bikes. They have a wide turning radius, heavy clutch pull, and a poor riding position (for street use). All of these add up and make slow speed manuvers more difficult then most other sportbikes. Most new riders often have problems with low speed manuvers and have a good chance of dropping thier bike. They are among the most uncomfortable sportbikes ever made. They aren't bad when you are going over 120kph, the wind helps some. They are great on the track, the position is near perfect for that use, though I have doubts you will do much track time with it. Ducati parts are somewhat expensive, but they are not as bad as some people make them out to be. The 998 has different side panels than the 748/916/996 bikes, so they may be more hard to come by then the older style side fairings. Something to keep in mind in case you ever do drop it.

Ducati's need a bit more maintenance than other sportbikes. They need the valve clearance checked every 6000 miles, and the 2 cam belts changed every 10000 miles or 2 years. A valve check will run about $500 just to check, and then more if any need adjustment. Belts will run you about $100-$150 for the pair. I did my own checks on my Ducati's and it is fairly easy to do, if you are willing to try. Adjusting is a bit more work, but again, not all that difficult.

The Testastretta motors (998, 999 and 03+ 749 bikes) are supposed to be more reliable than the older 748/916/996 models, but there have been a few cases of 998's puking oil into the airbox via the crankcase breather setup, which usually requires a motor rebuild to fix. There are a host of other problems that are common to these bikes, but by 02 a number of them had been addressed.

Check what your insurance will be like. Unless you are with State Farm, and have a car with them, you will be paying a fair bit for it. I suspect if you check the other insurance companies, you'll be looking at around $5000-$7000k a year to insure it.

I don't want to steer you away from this bike if this is what you truely want. I just hope you understand what you are getting into if you do get it.

If I were you I'd sell it and buy a 4th gen LS1 but I probably shouldn't say that in here. Then again that's me thinking I'm you and thinking of it as a daily driver.

 

sell it and use it for downpayment for a house with a garage..lol.. So next time you get a car or bike you will have a garage..

I only saw Alexs' car briefly but it is very nice. I don't know if it's $14,000 nice but it might be to the right buyer. I saw a '92 Z28 with 30,000kms in the Old Car Trader today

Anyone else think the dealer offered "twelve five" or "twelve and a half" for the Z28? Odds are he didn't mean thousand.

Probably the same deal with the "fourteen". Sorry man, but no one spending their own money would offer that much for that car. If someome seriously offers up the cash, TAKE IT.
