Headlights

Has anyone here with an older model Trans Am 82-85 swapped the headlight assembly for a newer style 86-92?
My friends 83 Trans Am's headlight motors dont work and I noticed there are no kits to fix those motors, Can I swap a headlight assembly from an 87 into his?
Will it just fit and work or are there some differences in size or plugs?

healdight motors werent redesigned until 87 , 82-86 have the same motors. I knmow there is relays to change , as well as changeing the headlight switch with a 87 and up car , or moving 1 wire on the old switch.

A relay, ok but still is the whole light assembly the same bolt on, can I just swap one from an 87.
Just need to confirm before the guy goes spending money for nothing.
