My Project : White Knight

Hey all, I am from Shelburne Ontario (Work in Kitchener).

In Auguest I sold my 1989 Camaro RS and bought a 1988 Firebird Formula. Upon digging into the car I found a 5.7L PROM, 5.7L Emission Label, but it had a 5.0L Engine, and 5.0L VIN. The guys I bought it off of had given me a 80,000km L98, new rearend, spare transmission and a boat load of other parts part of the deal as he was moving to Scottland.

When I got the car it was :
-Lb9 TPI
-THM700R4 *Slipped into 3rd*
-3.42 Posi Rear Disc
--
It is now :
-L98 TPI - 1.6 Crane Rockers - K&N filter - 3" Flowmaster American Thunder Exhuast - T.B Coolant Bypass - T.B Air Foil - AFPR - Mr. Gasket Performance PROM
-THM700R4 rebuilt with shiftkit
-3.73 Posi Rear Disc

------
I love the car, and now plan on doing some suspension modifications and beef those components up. It handles awesome compared to my winter RS and my old v8 RS aswell, the WS6 is killer! I am also planning on painting the black "bumperettes" body colour.

Took it to the track last fall, it ran 16.18 @ 85.00 MPH . Once I got the 305 out I noticed alot of Sludge in the motor, some gaskets were not there (exhuast manifolds lol, sides of block were black!) With my new setup/mods, I am hoping for 14.5 -> 13.9 in the 1/4. Have to wait till Spring though!

Let me know what you guys think of the car!

Out with the 305 :

Re: My Project : White Knight

is there any computer or sensor work you had to do to convert from the 305 to the 350? or did it all work the same on the new motor. i have been thinking of a 383 in mine but it seems like it might be alot of headache on the tpi

PROM was already for the 350, so it was plug and play, just put in Higher flower 350 spec Injectors!

Mechanicaly, you just need bigger injectors and custom programming

But a 383 would like a better intake set-up then the stock TPI if its in your budget to upgrade

A 383 with a stock TPI is still a royal hoot to drive though, so much fun and amazing low end TQ, had one and actualy miss it even though my car is much faster now, the power is now all up top, now I shift at 6500RPM, with the stock TPI's 383 I was shifting at 4500rpm, it had so much more bottom end grunt. All in what you want really.
