Need some advice

Hey guys I have an 87 Iroc that needs a little care. I took it to the body shop today and the total for it to be done right (minor rust in the normal areas and some spots underneath that can be a problem in the next couple of years.....and a color change was $5000.00.
I also was going to be putting another 2000.00 into the mechanical side of it as well (new exhast and some tranny work).

Anyway its a 305 t roofed car that I had sitting for a couple of years with 248532

Anyway I was looking about and I found a car 89iroc 350 totally nice car for the same price as my car I was going to fix up....probably going to buy it.

what can I expect to ask for my car....Oh i have the proper rims for it as well

I may sell it to a guy who is most likey to part it out....how much will he make off the car so I can adjust what he wants to give me 1500.00

any input will help me greatly

Re: Need some advice

This is a tough question to answer, especially without seeing the car. Assuming nothing other than the hood is decent in the body, this is just some ballpark numbers from parting out cars BEFORE the economy crapped out.

9-bolt disc rear with prop valve - 300-500
16 IROC wheels - 150-350, very much dependent on condition
700R4 trans - core - $100-150
T5 - core - ??? probably $200
305 running decent with TPI, wiring, computer, etc. - $400-600
interior - all depending on condition and colour - 0-200
console - $50-100
hood - $100
rad fans - $50-100
body kit - $100-200

However, this is dependent on anyone actually wanting those parts. I have noticed a drop in interest in third gen cars over the past year or two, however, Camaros are more popular than Firebirds it seems, so you're lucky there. Feel free to correct me, its been a few years since I parted out third gens. Hope this helps.

Re: Need some advice

99% of thirdgens are worth less than the price of a paint job even after the paint is applied.

Unfortunately, I will have to agree with that.
