Well, I was in the process of swapping an LS1 / 4L60E into my 1991 Trans Am, but got fed up with it and bought a 4th gen. What I have, is a mostly complete LS1 swapped 3rd gen.
It will need a transmission or have the current trans rebuilt. It runs, and even moves, but the trans makes some weird noises and when you put it in park, it still rolls as if it were in neutral. I think the parking pall is broken or something. This trans has given me nothing but troubles since I bought it.
I got ripped off really, from a guy on kijiji. He sold it to me as a 2WD trans, with a 2wd tailstock on it, but it had a 4wd output shaft, and I didn't notice at the time. By the time I was ready to put the trans in (actually had it in) I went to put the driveshaft in and d'oh! the output shaft was too short. Removed the trans, had the proper 2WD shaft installed, put trans back in, and then found out the pump was shot. Removed trans again, had pump fixed, put trans back in, now I find out it has no park and something is making noises inside the tranny. I gave up.
This swap has nickel and dimed me to death because of things like the trans, piecing things together like various sensors, accessories etc. If I ever did it again I would definitely buy a wrecked donor car or something similar.
However, I did finish 90% of it. The car needs a transmission (or total rebuild), it will need a tune (has had most of the dtc's and whatnot tuned out, but I put a cam in it and had planned on getting it tuned when the swap was complete)
Here's a little info about the swap:
- Motor came from a '99 Camaro, I forget the mileage, I think it was around 150,xxx kms.
- Motor has a cam, can provide specs later (if I can find the cam card, bought it slightly used off LS1tech)
- Ported heads and ported throttle body
- Custom harness made by Pocket here on TGO
- Walbro GSS340 fuel pump
- Stainless braided fuel lines
- Professional Products AFPR w/ Gauge
- New headgaskets and bolts installed
-Spohn swap mounts and polyurethane motor / trans mounts
- Hawks 4l60e trans crossmember
- Corvette Fuel rail covers (not installed because I have truck coils on it)
- Custom 4" intake w/ K&N cone filter
- '02 SS Manifolds
- Brand new Magnaflow catback, and custom homemade y-pipe w/ 2 new Magnaflow cats
- C6 Corvette wheels - Polished aluminum, 18" fronts, almost new rubber, 19" rears, decent rubber, 2" spacers up front, 2 3/4" spacers out back
- Just replaced the rear end fluid w/ Royal Purple synthetic, and cleaned up the diff cover
- Heater core was broken during swap, I have a new one but haven't installed it. The heater lines are just looped currently.
The car itself is in decent shape, the paint is not perfect, but looks okay from a distance. There are a few rust spots underneath and in the back wheel wells, but nothing too extreme. Interior is in really good shape other than I am missing the center console piece.
I haven't really listed the car for sale yet, but I am considering offers. I paid $2800 for the car about 6 years ago, and have spent over $9000 just doing this swap over the past 2 - 3 years. I realize I am going to lose a bunch of money, but I need to get rid of it sometime this summer. So if anyone is interested in swapping their own car, this is the perfect candidate, or if you want to finish this one, that's fine too.
Shoot me a PM, email, or reply here.
I am not in a rush to sell, but shoot me an offer.

I don't have a whole lot of images right now, but if you need some, just shoot me a message.

Thats a shame. Its such a nice car.Would you be willing to part some stuff from it?Where abouts are you located?
I am in Napanee, Ontario. It's about midway between Toronto and Ottawa on the 401 (about 2 - 2.5 hours to either city).
I'd rather get rid of the car as a whole, but if it doesn't sell by the end of the season then I might consider tearing it apart. I could probably get more money that way but I really don't want to be bothered.

No offers? Not even a lowball offer?
I know I will not get anywhere near what I have into it, so shoot me a price. Worst I can say is no.
I might be selling without the wheels.

Any luck with the car? Ive tried asking around if anyone wanted a near complete ls swapped bird but no takers.Only things i would want from it i cant afford myself right now..maybe the fuel rail covers, does it have the a/c components?
