Can't help you with 3rd Gens- but '78-81 2nd Gens. were roughly 3700lbs dry- and I believe all 3rd Gens were lighter than this by at least 100lbs.

Car: 90 IROC 5.7 hardtop
Engine: L98
Transmission: T5 swap
Axle/Gears: Yup -- they still work
Firebird & Camaros are similar

The IROC is heavier than the Camaro and the GTA is heavier than the Firebird. In each case by about 100-150 lbs.

A big difference in weight can be found in an IROC with A/C and power everything and a non-optioned IROC. If I remember correctly my '91 Formula Firebird door sticker says 3150 DRY (my memory may be playing tricks it may be 3250 DRY). I've got A/C and power just-about-everything as well.

In any event the cladding and power options really bring up the weight. I've never heard of a 3rd gen weighing in at more than 3500lbs.
