ontario tint law
is it still 35 sides and 5% back? some dik headed london cop said ANY window film is illegal. then he backed off after i showed him my reciept from tint king that said i had 35%...
Any tint other than the factory tint is in fact illegal in Ontario. Unless you have 5% all-round or the cop feels like he's need an excuse for giving you a ticket, most police will turn a blind eye too it. I've heard some shops will not do anything less than a certain percentage and the only thing I can think of is they just don't want the liability. *shrug*
Personally, I've got 20% on the rear and 30% on the sides and I'm quite happy with it...plenty dark enough for me.

I had 15% all around on my Oldsmobile, and I only had a problem once, but that was in vineland, so I didn't take the cops warning seriously
I will be going 15% on the GTA this summer, I'll have to see though. IROCKERS windows are pretty dark, so I may go with the next least tint after 15% on the sides.
As for the back, I believe the law is you can do whatever to the back, you can even paint it black if you want LOL... thats what I was told. The only reason they don't like the sides dark, is because they need to see the driver and passenger. Dark windows is a good weapon for people with guns, I know we don;t have guns, but someone else may have *shrug*
I wouldn't worry about it though, cops aren't that picky about it, just hope the cop isn't in a bad mood

Ok my friend is a cop and he told me that.. there are no laws against tint.. QUOTE: " They have to be able to see the driver of the vehicle" so no matter what the tint is if you get a ***** of a cop he can bust you... so you take the risk to have the tint.. I have never had a problem but maybe someday..

5% is waaay to dark
Coming from personal experience on my old 92 Sunbird GT.... night driving sucks if you have to back up or use your side mirrors!! Plus it's just a ticket waiting happen... cop sees you past by and is having a bad day... notices the real dark side windows and bam, ticket! screw that... I am getting mine tinted but I think I will go with 35% on the sides and 15% in the back.
