Thirdgen Nationals 2006 Info!

Hey guys, Looks like the weekend of September 23rd/24th will be the winner for our gathering.

I am planning on semi-combining the TGnats and Power at the point picnic, like this:

Thirdgen Nationals
September 23rd 2006
10:30am-4pm
Cecil County Dragway

Power at the Point Picnic
September 24th 2006
10:30am-5ish-pm
North Point State Park

There are a bunch of local hotels between the two places that would be ideal. Plus, there are tons of places to go in the off time Saturday night.

The Nationals - will be also TnT day for the track so we don't get hammered on renting the track out. Last year it was wide open though, most folks got to hot lap. Great track and it's easy to get to. You would pay at the gate for the usual TnT fees.

The Picnic - would be the following day at our usual park, I am looking into having it catered out and still working out the numbers on wether or not we can do it. Cost to be determined, but MUST be a prepaid. I got stuck with the bill last year and it was anything but pretty.

T-Shirts - T-shirts will also be pre-paid. I still have a TON of TGNats 05 shirts, almost one for every day of the month. I don't want to get hammered again so they will be preordered/prepaid.

So, who can make it?!? We need to get a honest headcount together so arrangments can be made.

[Copied information update from the bottom of the post]

(Remember - this will be a PREPAID event. Please don't drag your feet sending in your reservation and money as food/etc are bought based on paid headcount)

Saturday @ Cecil County dragway
(These fees are just the regular test and tune rates)
$35 to race
$10 to spectate
You will pay these rates when you enter the track and is seperate from the picnic

Sunday @ North Point State park
$3 Entry per car into park (paid directly at gate for use of the park)
(---NOTE--- If there is no one at the gate PLEASE use the honor system envelopes and drop it in the box and put the parking tag on your rearview.)
$10 TGN 06 per car show cost
$10 ea person, kids 14 and under are free (Lunch included) [you will be provided with an armband on check in for easy ID]
(i.e. if you are 1 person bringing your car it would be $20 prepaid and $3 for the park when you arrive)

The fees for the show can be paid via paypal (BEST WAY) to eds11979@hotmail.com , if you need to mail it in send me a PM and I will give you an address to send it to. Please also add in the note area what you are bringing. (Headcount/carcount/car type)

REMEMBER - the costs for racing are seperate, I am not involved in that and those fees are paid directly to the track. We are going for test and tune racing. There were not many other folks there on race day last year so folks got plenty of runs in.

T-shirts - T-shirts will be right around $18, and will be ironed out once the design and particulars are finalized.
---Race day location---
Cecil county Dragway
:: CECIL COUNTY DRAGWAY ::
1916 Theodore Road
Rising Sun, Maryland 21911

---Show Day location---
North Point State Park
North Point State Park
North Point Road
Edgemere, MD 21219

Cookout lunch is provided with admission on show day.

A list of local hotels/motels will be posted soon along with other local odds and ends.

Awards are Camaro class/Firebird class/non-thirdgen class all with 1st/2nd/3rd places.

Cars. Non thirdgen domestic cars are welcome and will have a seperate class. All classes will be judged on attendee votes. [vote form will be provided on check-in]

Any questions/comments/etc just PM me.

Thanks and I hope to see ya there!

I'll be there on Saturday and I'd like some T's as well. Will you be posted the prices for the show and T's somewhere? Also, what sizes are avaliable?

I'm also trying to get my dad to bring his car as well.

Another question. Is this a "kid friendly event?" or should I find a sitter?

Stay tuned on the T's pricing, I am still working on that. The usual array of sizes will be available.

It will be a 100% kid/family friendly event, I have two along with alot of the locals have kids and will probably be bringing them along as well.

I'll be there for the races at Cecil, but I will have to see what goes on, dont like the way the car acted tonight there. went from a 15.2 to a 16.6

Ive gotta see if the car would still be insured.

1988redhead21: The track is in Rising Sun Maryland, not sure where the park is off hand..

Lots of reading, lots of words.

But what times do the festivities start on Saturday, then on Sunday?

I won't be at the TnT Saturday, but many of us are interested in the Picnic Sunday.

Thanks!

I'll be at the track day if I can find a trailer to borrow.Just a bit too far to drive for me, especially if something breaks Any bracket racing that day or just TnT? $35 is a lot of money to race if I don't get a chance to win it back The picnic is close enough though so I'll make it there +1

Just TnT, and those rates are just the regular saturday TnT rates per the cecil website. Kinda pricey compared to capitol, but it does keep the ryce kiddies out.

I am just waiting to see the shirts so I know if I want one and how many. I don't want to send multiple payments at a 3% charge on each.

Rick I would be up for that again that was pretty neat... I will have to set up my vid camera in the car.

Shirts are done and pics are posted, and multipay or single pay paypal still will take out the same chunk.

I'll be there for the picnic on Sunday with my Firebird. Put me down for a large t-shirt.

Weather looks good for that weekend thus far, if it gets funky this week I will post a possible rain date.

Activities - nothing really formal planned except for hanging out/eating/checking out cars/voting/trophies/etc. but I am open to good suggestions.

I was thinking maybe like some volley ball or disc golf or frizbee football or regular touch football or possibly if there is a baseball diamond maybe a little soft ball or something.

Is there electrical outlets for a stereo or something like that?

Are dogs allowed where we are going to be?

Volleyball would be cool if you have a net setup??

No on the electrical, even if there was you can't play music in a state park.

No again on the dogs in a state park...

Hey everyone I am new to this forum but I just looked at this and realized this is local! I live in Towson. Unfortunetly I will be going to Dover for the Busch race on saturday but I will try to make it on Sunday to the picnic to take some pictures and say hi to everyone.

If some people could take a bunch of 3MP+ pictures on saturday we could include the event in the next issue of Domestic Driver E-zine.

How many people are expected to attend the event on Saturday and on Sunday?

Also ES87iroc could you possibly write an article about this event afterwards for us to put in the next issue along with the pictures? If not maybe someone else with writing talent can?

Also we would also be happy to give away 5 subscriptions as prizes or something.

Erik looks like rain both days and if you do decide to change the sun I need to know ASAP since I took a vacation day and would have to let the boss know that I would like to change it.

It seems the forcast is for scattered thunderstorms. With only a 40% chance of rain. I wouldn't worry about it until it gets to 50% or more. I work outside for a living and we don't bother with worrying about forcasts like that. If it does rain it will pass eventually.

Okay folks, here's a couple quick updates.

Shirts are in, along with the trophies!

I have a wedding to attend on Saturday AM, so Steve86TA will be in charge on Saturday. If you need shirts or anything Saturday, he is the one to talk to. If you prepaid for a shirt and want it on Saturday, PM me if you have not already done so. Steve will also have a few extras on hand as well.

If you have NOT prepaid for Sunday's picnic and show by now, just bring it with you. There will be a check in desk at the show area with a list of all who have prepaid/who bought shirts/etc. Rates will be the same, and will be the same regardless of arrival time. I do want to say a big thanks to all that prepaid to get this off the ground, so I will be handing out a draw ticket to those that prepaid when they check in. We will probably draw for a tshirt or as domestic driver e-zine graciously volunteered to donate a few subscriptions, that will be in there as well.

Weather and rain dates. It looks right now as though we *might* get a scattered tstorm or so, the show will go on. I will be buying a few extra easy-ups so we have some shelter if it does end up raining any.
