LT1 heads,intake swap ?'s

I found a set of vette LT1 heads and LT1 intake. both off a 93 vette. I'm considering this for my 87 IROC 350 TPI.I'm familiar with john millican doing the LT1 intake conversion for the 3rd gens but would this be neccesary if I went with the LT1 heads also? Would this combo work? Because if this would work i'd just get the intake and port and polish the heads and put them on there for some budget HP seeing how it'll be under $400 for the heads and intake. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

The intake will obviously bolt right up to the heads, naturally you'll need the special fuel lines and little odds and ends but the bolt patterns and stuff will be left alone.

However...

The LT1 heads wont mate to a GEN1 block that takes extensive modification and becomes uneconomical very quickly

What he said. Seems to be the general misconception that LT1 heads will bolt on to an L98 block if it has an LT1 intake. The LT1 heads are a reverse cooling head... its not a good idea to try to mate them to a Gen 1 SBC unless you do the machine work yourself or you have gobs of cash to throw around. I don't remember the exact $$$ amount but I did have an article on it emailed to me. If you want I can do the same for you.

Alright guys..thanks I figured since it was a reverse cooling head it wouldn't be a direct bolt on. If I went and found some L98 aluminum heads off a vette would this be a better idea and just do some porting on them? I'm sure you'll all say just get some AFR's just i'm trying to keep things a little bit cheaper for now.

I wouldn't say get afr's, aluminum L98's can make some nice numbers, and they'll make plenty of torque. Check into what lingenfelter has done with them...
