Need AC -NON AC TPI HELP...w/in
OK I have a question on a car which ONCE had AC and now does not.... I gutted my AC system back in about 1996 and just basically unplugged everything and left all wiring hidden in the looms....
ANYWAY Im in the middle of converting to a Speed dennsity setup and I come across this crap and decide why NOT pull it all oput of the car...
Well In reading wiring diagrams I see in 1 diagram they list a Scematic for my second fan control....It shows a ground for this circuit running through an AC Pressure switch.... ANYWAY if its unplugged then the switch cant be making the connection...
Then in another article I see where there is a BLUE wire that IS ON THE SAME CIRCUIT...It has a ring terminal and shows as GROUNDED on NON AC CARS.... as in No switch then ground this...
Has anyone actually tried this?? Or does someone with a 1LE with AC delete have this wire connected???
So far all thirdgens Ive seen have had AC YET all of them Have this BLUE wire with the ring connector ELECTRICAL taped to the Main wire loom on the Pass side....

Put in the SD and find out what the fans do, go from there.
On a maf car if you yank all the AC sensors your fans will work funny because of your AC switch, just put teh swtich back in and let it hang from the plug.
SD just has 1 more temp sensor in the passenger head for fan #2
once your car hits the right temp it comes on.

ok I elplained it badly...THE SD system is IN..AND ITS RUNNING FINE.. I basically Cut wires and tucked them in the harness years ago 1996 I believe...ANYWAY I wondered if someone with a non ac car could confirm this....Im going to try it anyway because the fact that you say leave the pressure sensor hooked up PROVED what Im saying....The sensor provides the ground...Unhooked funny stuff happens...So If I geround the blue wire then I can take the other wires out.
BUT I dont think my SECOND FAN EVER COMES ON....Hence why I asked about the ground...I may ground it and wire the 2nd one manually....

kenwood,
i dont know what schematic your using, but some models used
a pressure switch in the rear of the compressor. when pressure
was low the switch interupted the ground circuit and ceased
operating. simply grounding the wire would remove this feature.
as this wire controls the ground circuit of the clutch coil.

Your RH or aux fan wont come on when that circuit is not connected to a ground either through the switch or direct. I ran into this when I removed my AC. I hooked up a rocker switch to ground the circuit that way I can turn the second fan on manually. Once you remove the AC, assumming you removed the condenser, one fan should cool it. I recently removed the evap core & made a new housing to eliminate the bulge at the firewall were the evap core was & installed a single after market fan. No cooling problems at all.

Hmm ok that makes sense..... I want them both to run though...Ill wire a switch like you said...BAsically when sitting at the track between rounds I want to COOL the car faster.....I dont have any cooling problems...But Im lugging the weight of the fan around I might as well be using it...
