tpi airflow

which is better for power/flow stock air cleaner setup (with gutted boxes) but gets cold air or a k&n on the throttle body (better air flow but hot air from engine bay)

I'd say the cold air, though my 'proof' says otherwise.

I ran at the track through the somewhat stock setup on my 86 TA (3" ABS pipe in place of stupid square airbox) and it has a K+N filter... cant remember the ET or MPH but it was around a 15.5@88 or thereabouts. Next run I attached the MAF directly to the bellows and made another run. MUCH better throttle response. Maybe with some tuning, it would have run better but I do know the ET and MPH were so close it wasnt worth it. The radiator had the fans on, and it was running at 185 degrees. I dont think the hot air was causing any real problems.
