how far to go

i have a spare intake manifold from my old car and i was wondering if 3 inches is good enough depth when i siames it or should i go further? any input appeciated

If you Look down from the Runner Side, You Will See that there is a small ating mark about 3" Down.

I went down to that Because it is handy as a referance. Im going to Run like this and see How I do, and probrably pull it off later and go down another 2" once I get a drillpress.

See if that offers any improvment.

Personally, I think whats equally important as depth Is width. If All your doing is cutting a 1/2" Wide slit down the divider for 5", thats not going to offer as much transfer as a 1" wide slit fo 3".

You can take the center portion out as wide as the runners themselves, once you get in past the bolt hole. Thats what ive done on the 2 Ive got finshed so far.

I wish I had a digital camera, I would put up some pics of what im talking about.

thanks. i am in 3inches now, also i agree with the 1 inch idea that is how i'm working mine.
i saw how 1 person went 5 inches but saw no results
does anybody know what to expect from this mod or have any dyno/track improvements to show.
