Mass Air --> Speed Density Conversion
Mass Air --> Speed Density Conversion
Well I have almost everything except a wiring harness. I have the MAP sensor with pigtail, new knock sensor, and 7730 computer with memcal & pigtails. I am really undecided on what to do with the wiring situation. I was looking at the Painless harness, but it seems they have gotten a bad rap here. Should I get the painless or just rework my harness?
Yeah I am looking to put the ECM in the stock location and I heard the regular harness is way too short and the extended harness will give me another 4 ft. of wire, which I wouldn't know what to do with
Changing length of Painless Harness
You can easily change the length. I had to make some changes so I simply cut, tinned, soldered, and heat shrinked all connections. MY IAC plug is not accessible so I have a plug soldered in near the ECM so I can get at it easily.
I would not hesitate to cut the harness and change the length but only AFTER I had it all installed and running. Then, I would carefully change one wire at a time.

I used a Painless kit too, been running for 18 months in a K5 Blazer that gets used off road a lot and have had no issues with the wiring harness/connectors, etc. I'd buy one again, nicely marked connectors.
