need serious help asap!!!
well i put finally got the car back togethr and put a battery in and cranked her over. THe big problem is the car wont stay running what so ever. I found a couple vacuum leaks and now it will run but only for 10 seconds and it barely runs at that. I put on slp runners, afpr set at 40 with the key on, new plugs rotor cap and wires. I had the dist out when i did the intake and i marked where it should go back in and made sure it did. Ive checked the firing order many times and im 99% sure they are right. The gas that is in the car is almost a year old and the car has been sitting for about 5 months since ive ran it. Could i have gotten air in the fuel lines or put the dist in 180 backwards? if so how would i check both? Also will the old fuel be causing this also. I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it goin and even then it has a horrible miss. when i let off it runs at 400-600 rpm barely running at all then it will almost die then surge back up then eventually die. What could be causing this guys???? I am really puzzled and i need help asap

also , the 2 fuel lines that go to the front of the fuel rail, is it possible if i crossed those two lines and they are goin to opposite sides that that could cause the problem. I am completely baffled here

For starters...you NEED a timing light. They're cheap but you need to get one. While someone else turns the car over, check to see if the timing is correctly set. Rotate the distributer to get the timing all set. If it was off by 180* you would get backfiring and it wouldn't run for even 10 seconds. I bet this is your number one problem. Even if you marked the distributer before you took it out.
You shouldn't be able to cross the fuel lines. Mine are two different sizes. I use the same wrenches but the threads are two different sizes so I wouldn't worry about that. The fuel is recirculated so all the air pockets will magically disappear when the pump gets going(you've already done this).
Old gas isn't a good thing. I don't have a degree in chemistry but basically the hydrocarbon chains break down over time. But if I were in Vegas I would put my money on the distributer timing being off.
