TBI to TPI swap........fuel pump??

my question now is will i need a new fuel pump? im going from LO3 to L98. also, will the injectors from a TPI 305 shoot enough gas for a 350 or will i have to buy a new set? the reason i ask is because the TPI setup i have is off of a 305. thanx

i'm not sure about the fuel pump but you should be able to use it, i dont knwo if it's the same on an l98 or not, but as far as the injectors go.....they are 19lb/hr though. you can def. use them but i'd suggest running an afpr. it'll be fine with that. cheaper than buying all new injectors. if this is going to be a heavily modded l98 then i'd go with new injectors though. good luck

No, No, No.
The fuel pump from a TBI car WILL NOT work with a TPI.
You will have to upgrade the pump. The 19lb injectors would probably work on the 350 (which took 22lb injectors). However the computer chip for a 350TPI is set up accordingly for 22lb injectors. You could probably get away with an adjustable FPR and push the pressure on the 19lb injectors to compensate. Best to get the 22lb'ers. Unless you are running serious mods on the 350, no need to go to a higher lb injector. Trust me, my ZZ4TPI runs rich with the SVO 24lb injectors.

just a mild cam and headers as far as engine wise. i was planning on running an AFPR anyway. how much pressure should i run if i plan on keeping the 19lb. injectors? and how much would a set of 22lbs. cost me? suggestions on what type of pump(in tank or out) and what type of afpr? thanx alot

i'm not sure about the fuel pump, but as far as the fuel pressure, i've heard 52 psi is optimum for a 350 tpi but that's with 22lb injectors. so anything around that will probably work good enough, just have to play around with it and see how it performs.

The Walbro 255lph aftermarket pump is probably the most recommended. Stay away from el cheapo autoparts store models.
I just installed a Walbro. Excellent kit, everything needed. I found the instructions a little sketchy but figured it out.

Hey Nasty_Bird_'90 that's going to be a pain in the a** to get to that fuel pump, so you better do some research on dropping the rear axle and tank. Call me if you need some help when your doing it, you still got my number right?
