TBI to TPI and now my speedo dont move

Engine: 305 tpi
Transmission: t-5 WC
TBI to TPI and now my speedo dont move
I know that I will need a new vss cause it will need to be 4000 ppm instead of 2000ppm but do I have to wire around the buffer that is on a tbi car??? or just hook it up and go??
