Poor man's mod
Poor man's mod
I've noticed if I have a passenger I can really feel the extra weight (less performance).
Having said that , I decided to take my spare, air cannister, jack and wrench out. These items must weigh at least 60lbs.
I've noticed the car charges harder at W.O.T. ,drives around town with less effort, and uses less fuel(best of both worlds).
I'v been driving for 16 years and have had 2 flats and I usually stay 15 min from my house.
I know it may be something a hillbilly would do but I am wondering if anyone else with a third gen has taken out their spare to increase performance?

I also took all of that out along with the rear seats, switched from leather power front seats to manual 4th gen cloth seats, switched from power antenna to solid mast, removed all the broken smog equipment and cat converter, and am working on getting rid of the carpet padding, Bose stereo (adding aftermarket) and sound deadening.
I have noticed a big improvement in the power/weight ratio and the butt dyno says i must have lost .2-.3 in the 1/4 mile which would be equal to adding 15-25hp.
About not having a spare tire..... would you actually inflate that little thing and drive on it? I know I wouldn't :nono:
