Differences between -88 and -89 plenum?

Hi!

I want to ask about the differences between the -88 and -89 TPI plenums....

I know that the -88 plenum probably have a passage for the cold start injector, i figure thats the passage to the driver side runners that my runners doesn't have....

There is a triangle shaped passage that is not present on the -89 plenum on the -88 plenums where the plenum attaches to the throttle body, whats up with that?

Reason I need to know is because I got a spare plenum from the junkyard that is from -88 but my car is an -89....

I wish i could help, but i dont know alot about pre 88 plenums.

from what your describing, my GUESS would be you're on the mark for the cold start injector...but if i am correct, i think the runners would cover this and it would not affect performance.

as for the triangle passage, i can only imagine that it may have someting to do with the IAC or possibly with one or both of the vent tubes that run into the pass side of the throttle body.

i would like to say, this is only a guess, i wish i could give you more accrurate info. I hope someone else can confirm or disconfirm what i said....or maybe it will lead you on a voyage of self discovery!! j/k

ok, now i know i need sleep

The opening between the openings for the throttle body are for the IAC. That was a change made in 89 or 90 I think.
