What is this?
What is this and what purpose does it serve? It was located next to the coil and distributer on the passenger side.

That's the EGR control solenoid. Whenever the ECM decides to turn the EGR on for your car it sends a signal to that solenoid, which opens a valve and lets the vacuum from the intake open the EGR valve.

if there is a block off plate where the egr was and I do not reconnect this selinoid, what steps do I need to take, to bypass the selinoid.
