I want to install aftermarket heads and cam myself this fall and I was wondering if anyone knows a website that has step by step instructions for installing heads and a cam on an L98 engine. I just want to know exactly what I am getting into. I have found some sites that show heads and cam installs on LS1's but nothing for a TPI L98 engine.
Thanks

It's all basically the same. You don't really need an application specific set of instructions unless you're just a total mechanical blonde.
Pick yourself up a Chilton's manual for your car. It'll get you through the job without much trouble (barring the usual problems like broken bolts...).

Its not the hardest job in the world, but its defenatly time consuming(especially with tpi). Just make sure you get all the gaskets, and fasteners you will need ahead of time. Then just rip it apart slide in the cam. bolt on the heads. slide in the pushrods. Install rocker arms, and set valve lash. Put the intake back on, break in the cam, and go for a ride. Look into prom burning stuff, before you do this job.

I know this is a stupid question but what did you mean when you said set valve lash?
I have a custom prom, but it is programed for the stock heads, small cam, and stock TPI. I got it when I had my engine built into a 383. Do I need to get a new prom when I install the heads, cam, LT1 intake, and headers or can I just get it dyno tuned? I really don't want to spend another $500 on the computer.
