LT1 Intake on my 305
LT1 Intake on my 305
Here's some pics so far. We just wanted to see what it was going to look like so we stuck it on. Hoping the whole swap will be done this weekend.

Still no shots.
I am very interested in dropping the LT1 intake onto my 305, but never received any responses to my posts. If you want email me the pics and I can post them for you on my server.

Wow!
That is an awesome looking intake sitting up on the 305!
OK here comes all the questions
1) Are you emission legal?
2) How much power are you expecting?
3) Anything special to make it bolt up to the 305, same block as the 350, so I thought it would just bolt right up.
4) what all did you need to make it work?
5) finally and maybe most importantly what did it set you back?
I saw your link to ts performance and am willing to go through almost anywhere, but considering I have TBI right now I am thinking of walking into some major problems, but ones worth tackling.

1. Well, we're getting rid of the smog pump and crap, but Tracey, (Scott Racing & Performance Owner Operator), thinks it should pass emissions just fine.
2. Right now I have 259hp at the engine and 209hp at the rear wheels and limited to 5 grand on the tach. We're expecting 6200 rpm, hp who knows.
3. Goto LT1.com This is were I got the idea of doing it. John has all the instructions for you. Tracey is doing things a little different but basically the same.
4. See 3.
5. For the intake I spent about $100 for one and about $95 for the other. I had to buy a second one to get a set of good fuel rails. These intakes are getting easier to come by. All depends really, what you can and where.
Email Tracey from his site if you want, he's a super nice guy and will help answer any questions you have.
I know this don't answer everything for you, but I hope it helps.
Ron.

I would really like to see the gains over TPI. I am switching from TBI to a serious TPI system with a D1SC, but if the LT1 will work and I can still SC it... That seems the best way to go and it's ALOT cheaper than building up a performance TPI system from scratch.
However, being in California we need to pass visual as well. So unless I can get some kind of AIR hooked up to it... I am bummed.

TPI isn't nearly as bad in a forced induction application as it is NA, even with all stock TPI parts. I owuldn't play games in smog **** CA if i was planning on running an intercooled ATI blower. Plenty easy enough to run 11s or beyond with TPI under boost.

That is what I was thinking. California is a great place to live, but if you want to have any kind of performance in a late model vehicle, it becomes not such a great place real quick.
Last visual (two years ago) I was missing the small recirculating breather hose from the valve cover to the air cleaner housing (passenger side) and the guy about bit my head off saying I can't put those kind of "hot rod modifications" on my car and hope to pass emissions. Hot rod? A recirculating breather hose? Needless to say I passed emissions after doing a frantic search for the part, and got my first real experience of the "smog *****".
I plan on doing the following TPI mods while I do the transfer to really get the most from the setup:
TPIS Big Mouth TPI intake base
AS&M Ported plenum
BBK 52mm Throttle Body (Got bigger for blown application)
AS&M L98 Semi-siamesed runners (polished)
24# Ford Motorsport injectors #FMS-M9593A302
SLP Airfoil
SLP Cold Air Induction
All port matched, full SLP exhaust, headers, etc...
SoI guess I will stick with that for now... but that LT1 intake is sweet!

I will be running the 1/4 in Bowling Green, KY on the 20th of this month, if all goes well. So I'll get to see some 1/4 times compared to now. Last year my fastest time was 15.5. This year I put in a Corvette Servo and SFC's and got to 15.1. Then went to a 2800 stall and 3.73 and got to 14.7 with lots of wheel spin. I ran 15.0 and 14.9 at SLP Day in Columbus and it was very, very hot out. I should also have some drag's by then to use this month also.

Ron so whats the deal havent heard anything yet on the setup for months now. How did everything go?? Is it running?? what were the gains?? I was thinking about doin the same thing..need to know if its worth it..
Well, I haven't started it in a couple months now. I have kindof put off the car for the winter, but am going to get started back on it this week. I have been trying to email Ed Wright to see if he can re-program my chip but when I email him I don't get any responses. I am trying to find someone in my area that can hook up a laptop and download what the car is doing, sensors and all so I can get back a hold of ED and see if he can re-program it. I have been working with a guy in my area who is going to try to get all the stuff to program chips for my car. If I can get with him before I get with ED, then I'll have this guy re-program chips for me. Last time I drove it, it used a 1/4 tank of gas in a 1/2 hour. So its running way rich still. I have replaced the O2 sensor, haven't tried the temp sensor yet. I don't think its that because the fans are coming on and off at the right time. I did have a friend use ALDLMon and looked at my car and he said that when I let off the gas after having it floored the injectors shut off, then after a couple seconds come back on. Any suggestions what it might be or waht to chet next, other than programming or is it just a bad program?
I got mine from John at LT1Intake.com. Hopefully you can see where I put mine, on the driver's side fender well. We made a bracket... Just have to figure something out for your self I guess. Put it anywhere you want. In this location I can still buy a stock hose and make it fit.
ok.. i see that.. did the braied lines come with the kit? how much for the kit from john... but where do they hook up to in the intake... i see the lines going to intake, but i where do they go...

When you mount the remote t-stat housing, make sure it's lower then the radiator cap or else you may get trapped air.
About the remote t-stat, I beat Summits price and drill/tap for the CTS sensor relocation in the housing.

I'm interested in what kind of power gains can be seen with applying the LT1 intake to an otherwise stock car.
If they are decent, then the gains with a cam, rockers, and your basic exhuast work should be very well.

my complete lt1 intake was 150 with shipping, it's not a stealthram, but it's supposed to be comparable to a miniram. I haven't bought all the tpi stuff yet, so i dunno if it's gonna be worth it or not, i'm switching over from carb...
It should be less than $800 bucks going from a TPI to an LT1 intake. I spent around $1000 and I bought heads, did get a real good deal on the cam so that made it cheaper. Depends also how nice you want it to look, dress up parts, what if anything you break taking off etc...

Ron we have not heard from you lately on yur intake swap, any numbers or track times yet.I am very anxious because I have a very similar setup with just a slightly larger cam and I will be putting my intake on in a few weeks but am curious as to what I should expect.
Sorry guys, I haven't had a chance to do anything with the car lately. I got laid off in January and now have started back to college and just haven't had the money to get the chip reprogrammed. Taking it to the track the way it is now would just give bad numbers since it runs so rich and has a bad idle.

hey i've been giving this lT1 swap alot of tought and i figure its betta than spending 700+ on a set of runners and baseplate. so i'll swap over to a set of #21 injectors,52mm tb and LT1 intake. on a all stock 305tpi peanut bottom end.
