TPI fuel pump

I am getting ready to 'upgrade' from TBI to TPI on my 1991 5.0 RS. I have the same shop manual that the Chevrolet machanici use so I know about the defferences in the wiring harness, etc.
My biggest concern is changing the fuel pump to a TPI correct unit. Has anyone performed this change out? Details? Thanks.

It is a matter of dropping (or lowering) the rearend then dropping the fuel tank itself. It would be a good idea to have someone help you with this project because of the work involved. The most difficult part in my eyes was getting the tank to drop because of the filler neck. Of course this was the first time that I did it so I had no idea what I was doing. With 2 people it should be about a 4 hour job or so. Some may be able to do it quicker. Hope this helps some what.

Could always disconnect the intake off the tbi, and run a inline for the TPI... this way there is no dropping the tank.

TPI fuel pump

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a problem with the grunt work although removing the rear seems extreme. Any way, did you upgrade to the TPI fuel pump or just replace an existing TPI pump?
