It depends on what year LS1 you're talking about. I can beat the stock 98-00's most of the time, but the 01 & 02's are another story. Regardless, I would say that you will have to go as far as either intake & cam, or heads & cam (like I did).

The LS1 is sick. Sorry but it will take a lot more than just simple bolt-ons to even come close. I'd say heads, non-TPI intake, cam, and exhaust, or a supercharger/nitrous, and this depends greatly your budget. I've heard of WS6 Formulas running 12.9 off the showroom floor and witnessed 110mph traps from an LS1 Z with only cold air and exhaust, so these cars shouldnt be taken lightly. Good luck though, Id love to see an LS1 owners face after being stomped by a thirdgen.

Agreed, I don't think simple bolt-ons will push over the LS1. I believe that it would be possible for LTR system to shutdown an LS1 down in the quarter, but you will need to be pushing some serious power.
I would look at heads, cam, custom chip and intake. This is only after you have the proper exhaust and intake/filter system.
Don't forget that the LS1 intake makes more power at higher RPM, so you might need the Mini-Ram/LT1 intake if you don't have emmisions. If you need to pass, I would go with the SuperRam.

With my old setup, Super Ram, World Torquer heads, Lunati 219/224 @ .489 cam, TES & 3" exhaust, I was running 13.19 @ 103 with street tires & 3.73 gears. That would take most stock LS1's. That was basically an untuned setup as well, with some more tuning, I am sure it would have gone into the 12's.
