the oh so important questions........

i've searched past threads over tha last few days and I'm just as confused as I was when I started looking...here's what I've got going on:
1988 S10 blazer, with a 2.8, that I'm replacing with a 350 TPI.

question #1: The TPI is from an '88, I was thinking or removing the cold start, but then again, I was wondering if there are any advantages to getting rid of it, or if it's just a waste of time? I know if I do get rid of it, i'll need a '89 prom

question#2: TPIS used their ZZ9 cam (212/226) to produce 379 hp, I was thinking about the LT4 hot cam (218/228), only because the ZZ9 is almost $400, but it's power band is too high for the TPI, right? I was also told by a friend of mine who is a chevrolet tech that all the cars he's worked on with the hot cam have sucked really bad, is it really that bad of a cam?

question #3: will the Scoggin Dickey vortec baseplate, ported and ploished vortec heads, a cam in the neighborhood of the 212/226, and 52 mm throttle body work with a stock computer?

I know i've made this first post a long one, but thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me thanks, eric

Let me See if I can Help.

With an 88 TPI, you can remove the Cold start by going to a 89 PROM. Advantages would mainly be reduced clutter.

Also, the 89 Code is better anyway.

I can help you with that aspect, if your interested. Link in Sig For more information.

The Cam debate really hinges on alot of other things. Kevin91Z is making good power with a Lt4 HOT, But he is one of the few I have seen.

I don't see alot of people running the ZZ9, So I can't comment on that one.

LPE's 219 ( 219/219, .560/.560 ) Seems like a Winner in alot of respects however.

AS far as all that Jazz working w/ the stock computer, It Might run on a MAF setup... but your going to be far from optimal with it. It would work a LOT better with custom tuning.

Did that Help ?

1. Already answered.

2. If you're keeping stock TPI then stay away from the hotcam. It works great with other setups, but around here we've only seen limited success with it and stock TPI or even another LTR setup for that matter.

3. Already answered, but yes, it will work. It would be almost a waste to run it on a stock computer though. Custom tuning would be a MUST.

yeah that helps. I looked on LPE's website and they have a 212/219, i didn't see a roller 219/219. Also, seeing as how I have to get new injectors and i have a set or LS1 injectors in the garage, will they work?
