Can i wire a wide band 02 sensor into my factory 88 TPI ECM? If so, how would I do that?

No, you cant just wire one in. The outputs are different on wide bands, and the ecm wont understand it.

I did, however, read of someone (if I understood them correctly) who wired one into a spare input on the ECM and had it programmed for the sole purpose of outputting an exact A/F ratio in the ALDL datastream during WOT.

I don't believe it actually used the WB input for any type of adjustments. It was just for the convenience of having it output to the datastream so that the scanner would log it along with everything else. It used the "Battery Voltage" datapoint, which you just read as an A/F ratio.

Is there any benefit of using one. Could I wire a wide band into an A/F ratio meter, like the autometer?

You can get or make a box that will convert the W/B's output to 0-1 volt, that will make it compatable with a standard O2 input. I'm not sure there would be any advantage with a stock ECM, though.
