New to tpi, what to do?

Hey everyone its good to be back i've missed not having a thirdgen. I just picked up an 85 iroc with an lb9 and all of the goodies. It is basically a stock 305 with a shift kit and gears. My question is that my car idles at a little less then 500 rpm in drive and at wide open throttle it shifts at 4000-4500 rpm. This doesn't seem right to me and i've done some searches in the archives and didn't find anything pertaining to me. Does anything sound wrong to you guys? Also, other then setting up a ram air induction, what is a proven bolt on for this motor? Thanks guys

You can always go with a good cat-back to start out with. It will give you a performance & sound increase.

When was your shift kit put in? Were you having the same shifting problems before? With a HP peak around 4400 RPMS you should be shifting at around 4800 RPMS. I never had a problem taking it to 5000 RPMS even when the car was stock.

i forgot to mention i have a flowmaster 80 series on there, i hardly consider that a mod anymore its been on every car ive had. i would like to go to bigger three inch pipes all the way out but as it is i have clearance problems. The car has about a 3/1 drop on it and the air damn is practically laying on the ground. the shift kit i have is the b&m and its really firm from the 1-2 shift. My old lg4 camaro would shift at 5k and then some, why does the tpi run out of breath so soon (runners?)?

Yeah the TPI was designed for torque. The stock runners do run out of breath fairly early but if you can't hit 5000 RPMs then something is wrong. Your next mod could be some headers or larger runners

Make sure the TV Cable is adjusted properly.

Other than that, the only thing wich controls WOT shiftpoints is the Govenor in the transmission. Perhaps when the Shiftkit was installed the Govenor was Replaced ?

Best Bolt on you can do Is headers. Hands down.
