Never seez, or some similar type of material. Whenever you're putting steel bolts into aluminum, you want to use never seez. With those 2 metals, you get a corrosion that will fuse them together and make it nearly impossible to remove (unless you're like me and don't have anything assembled for more than a few months at a time
). This is why you see so many broken thermostat bolts in aluminum intakes.
In my case, I have stainless hardware, but it's still necessary to use never seez so that the threads don't gall.

I agree you need some type of anti seez on the threads of the bolts. You can find it at any auto parts store.

I like how they look, but the allen heads strip easily and they aren't as strong as steel bolts. They still allow you to tighten it sufficiently though.Originally posted by bigals87z28

The cap head stainless ones aren't too bad for strength. I had a set of the button head ones, and they were total junk, just not enough depth in the head to engage well. I'm lucky i got a few of them out.
Tip o' the day. Runner bolt installation is hella easier if you get or make a ball head allen socket. I also like to use a 1/4 drive ratchet to keep me from getting torque happy on 'em as well, a real plus with the stainless bolts especially.

Ed's right... the cap heads are a LOT stronger.
Of course, mine are button head.
They do look nice all polished up though.
