HSR on 305

FYI I just ordered my HSR for my 305. Unfortunately it won't be tested for a few months (I'm in the snowy north). Anyone know any general PROM changes I'll have to make?

HSR on a 305?? Holy dude you trying to be a pioneer.. you must be building a pretty hopped up 305 for all the air you will be getting through that HSR.. you will have to disable your EGR otherwise you wil get the "check engine" light on all the time. and you'll have to relocate you MAT sensor to your air inlet .. and then do some custom prom burning to turn everything...

I am a novice prom burner waiting to swap my miniram so I should be learning some new tricks aswell...

where are you in the North... I am in ontario

yup, I want to be "that guy." I know everyone says that the HSR is too big, but that's fine. I will probably be going up to a 355 sometime in late summer, so it will work well for that. Besides, I'm not going to spend $300-400 on a new base when I can get a full intake setup that is much better for not much more...

I really want to see how the package will work. I've got a nice cam in my 305 that pulls to 6000-6200, and with a T56 and some gears, it should run nicely. Too bad I have the stock heads, but that will all change as I eventually swap a larger engine in.

So, we shall see if the predictions that the 305 will be unstreetable and lose lots of low-end come true.

Oh, BTW, I'n in MN (USA), so I'm a bit south of you

Milt,

It will perform similar to a carbed intake. The runners are a little longer than a typical single plane and more direct. So it'll work a lot like a Victor Jr up high, and won't be quite as peppy as a Performer intake down low. I think the performance break even point for the StealthRam for an automatic car is a mild 350 with bolt ons with at least a 2200 stall. However, depending on how much you'll ride the clutch at the track, there'a always a chance it would do pretty good on a standard 305.

I'm with you - since your plans include a 355 pretty soon, you might as well give the StealthRam a try now.

If the car / chip is running OK with the cam and the LTR set up now, then it probably will be OK with the StealthRam. The StealthRam will want more initial timing and you could run into a knock retard problem,, you might not. TPS adjustment is critical in the way any TPI responds, but more so with the StealthRam.

Good luck!

Kevin
