Anyone running a zz1 camshaft?

looking for a cheap camshaft for my next buildup. it specs at
.05(235/235) 1.6:1 lift(.512/.512) lobe sep 114 deg
sells for 165 at gm parts direct.
anyone running this cam?
is it too big for a street car?
with a 114 lobe sep i'm assumeing a little boost wont hurt.
the setup so far go.s like this
afr 190's-milled to 64cc stock c-r 9.3-1
ported plenum asm ltr's edelbrock intake
52mmtb
paxton sc 5lb boost
slp headers and cat back.
looking for around 400 hp at the wheels

thanks for your input
ps i've already called 4 cam companies and not one cam they recommended was close to the others selection. most of my driving is under no boost so i want a cam that performs well without boost as well.

Im running the zz1 crate engine and only have 5K miles on mine.
I like the cam quite a bit although there are a few drawbacks.
I run an TH350 automatic tranny right now with a 3000 rpm stall. The engine likes to idle at about 1100 rpm in park and that goes down to about 900 in drive with the brakes held. I could make it a bit slower than that but it hesitates so i am happy enough with this idle speed. This is with a carb btw and i am not so sure its tuned properly which is on my list of things to do before getting it out of the garage this spring.

ZZ1 cam has tons of duration but not so much lift. I run 1.5 ratio rockers now but plan to upgrade to the 1.6s like you will use.

If you drive the car everyday and quite far, its hell on gas and not really a great cruiser because of the high stall. 3000 is not necessary but i would say it wouldn't be too happy with a stock convertor.

I would go with something with less duration and more lift for a more streetable ride. Also, the power of a single pattern cam is only really achieved with an amazing exhaust. I speak more along the lines of long tubes and true duals or something as equally free flowing.

oh yes i forgot, i see no way for you to be able to run this cam without a custom chip burned specifically for your car. well it would run but not to what it could. just make sure you factor the custom chip into the cost of the cam...IMHO though, you need a custom burned chip for any internal engine changes.

i'm running a paxton and knock on wood havent had any problems yet.have had it on for abouit 6 years now. thinking of selling and upgradeing to an ati d1 but right now dont quite have the funds.the afr's flow numbers dont get much better with more lift so the 512 would seem fine.it's the duration that seems a little much.
